As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our diverse database environment, with a focus on big data technologies. You will leverage your expertise to ensure the availability, performance, and security of our databases, supporting both mission-critical applications and innovative data-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, configure, and administer various relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.).
  • Implement and maintain big data solutions (Hadoop, Cloudera, etc.) to manage and process large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
  • Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.
  • Monitor database health, proactively identify potential issues, and perform regular backups and recovery procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to application developers, data analysts, and other stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
  • If applicable, leverage experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) to design and manage cloud-based database solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with IT teams, business units, and external vendors to achieve project goals.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in database administration, with demonstrated expertise in multiple RDBMS platforms and exposure to big data technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, database performance tuning, backup/recovery strategies, and security best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and database services is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues independently.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call support and occasional weekend or holiday work, as required.

  • This role may involve on-call or shifting schedules during weekends or holidays, depending on project requirements and deployment.
