Job Description

Seeking two (2) suitably qualified and reliable Operator – Process Plant to optimize performance of all operating circuits within the plant, while working safely and efficiently, by following sound operating philosophies and standard operating procedures and actively participating in the departmental training scheme to ensure optimization of the plant occurs at all times. The role will report to the Supervisor - Process Operations.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Provide basic technical support to Process Ops and Process team
  • Effectively manage and optimize the operations of a process plant facility in order to achieve maximum efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness
  • Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, such as developing contingency plans for unexpected challenges that may arise during project implementation
  • Apply safety principles, framework, processes, and measures to prevent accidents, injuries, and other adverse consequences and to ensure that all safety risks have been identified, assessed and satisfactorily mitigated
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wide variety of vehicles and equipment by applying the most cost-effective and best maintenance practice to improve availability and extend equipment lifespan
  • Follow standard procedures for optimizing process plant recovery and throughput
  • Follow organizational procedures and protocols for workplace emergencies, including safe evacuation, and emergency response
  • Follow directions from superiors in conducting maintenance activities;
  • Comply with all department procedures
  • Raise issues in performing routine maintenance activities in a timely manner
  • Contribute to safety implementation by complying with the safety policies and procedures


Qualifications

  • Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way
  • High school graduate or at least college level
  • At least six (6) months to three (3) years processing plant experience, or similar, is a necessity
  • Previous processing plant experience, or similar, will be well regarded
  • With forklift, crane, truck and skid steer loader experiences & certifications is an advantage
  • Prior experience working in Crushing, Flotation, SAG/Ball milling or filtration Dewatering circuits would be an advantage
  • With a valid Professional Driver’s License (code A,A1,B,B1,B2&C)
  • Drive for continuous improvement and innovation
