We are seeking a Virtual Assistant to manage the bookkeeping and accounting functions for our law practice on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and the U.S. tax code as it relates to small businesses and law firms. The role will begin with an increased workload to clean up and organize existing financial records, but ongoing work will be on a very part-time basis. We are looking for someone who values a long-term business relationship, but understands that the monthly workload will remain limited.

Please apply only if confident in meeting the qualifications and ability to handle key responsibilities below.

Key Responsibilities:
• Clean up and organize existing financial records and bookkeeping systems.
• Manage and maintain financial records, including accounting and bookkeeping tasks as needed.
• Reconcile bank statements, manage accounts payable/receivable, and ensure timely invoicing.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Track expenses, revenues, and ensure proper tax deductions for a law practice.
• Work with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar) to organize and maintain financial data.
• Assist in preparing for audits and manage year-end financial reporting.
• Provide regular updates on financial health, cash flow, and tax liabilities of the practice.
• Coordinate with tax professionals to ensure compliance and optimize tax strategies.

Qualifications:

• Certification in bookkeeping and accounting (e.g., CPA, QuickBooks certification, or equivalent).
• In-depth knowledge of the U.S. tax code, particularly as it applies to law firms and small businesses.
• Proven experience managing the finances of a legal practice is preferred, but not required.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Excel, and other financial tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential financial information.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a virtual environment.
• Looking for a long-term business relationship, with the understanding that ongoing work will be part-time each month.

This is a part-time role, with an initial period of increased work to clean up and organize the existing books, and a smaller, consistent workload each month thereafter.
