  • Finalise end-of-year trial balance, including all adjustments, end of year entries for depreciation, provisions, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Prepare working papers for tax returns for individuals and businesses.
  • Preparation of Division 7A workpapers.
  • Preparation of Tax Reconciliations.
  • Preparation of CGT schedules.
  • Prepare draft financial statements.
  • Prepare income tax returns.
  • Attend queries and final review work done by the junior team.
  • Attending client queries and communication.
  • Review BAS reconciliations, based on computer records against client records.
  • Prepare BAS tax returns and reconciliation of GST accounts for client workpapers.
  • Review PTX lodgments and reconciliations against client records.
  • Identify FBT issues and prepare FBT Returns.
  • Understanding of client business and able to provide initial brief tax advice on matters relating to general business.
  • Able to prepare tax planning from start to end for client groups with minimal supervision.
  • Able to review, understand and interpret client business performance including but not limited to (budget v actuals, forecasting, cash flow management/working capital).
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of jobs by team.
  • Ensure work papers, checklists and internal processes have been completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Has completed CA or CPA and is a full member.
  • At least 5yrs Australian Tax Accounting experience
  • Degree in accounting or business with an accounting major
  • Five years minimum experience in a professional accounting firm.
  • Sound understanding of income tax provisions together with other statutory regulations and requirements as indicated above.
  • Sound accounting and taxation skills and knowledge.
  • Sound computer literacy: ability to navigate around a computer and access email, Internet, clou based applications.
  • Sound understanding of Microsoft suite of products.
  • Sound understanding of accounting software programs.
  • Ability to mentor junior accountants whilst maintaining their own workflow and productivity targets.
  • Ability to prepare jobs from start to finish with minimal support required from managers/partners.
  • Ability to identify issues with client’s files at an intermediate level (for example: Division 7A, CGT, GST, FBT, etc.)
  • High level of initiative and a proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of WIP and Invoice management
