Blueprint for Success:

1. Technical Drawings & Drafting

  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, plans, and layouts based on sketches, base models, specifications, and calculations provided by architects and designers.
  • Develop both 2D and 3D CAD drawings of concept designs and construction documentation.
  • Create architectural detail drawings, electrical layouts and sections depending on the project type.
  • Resolution of design detail from initial concept modelling, ensuring compliance with Australian building regulations and appropriate construction methods.
  • Make adjustments to drawings based on feedback from project leads, ensuring that all changes are incorporated accurately and efficiently.

2. Collaboration with Project Teams

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements and produce accurate, high-quality documentation.
  • Interpret the design intent, specifications, and standards provided by clients or project stakeholders, ensuring that drawings meet industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure that all relevant technical details are correctly reflected in the final drawings.

3. Compliance with Codes & Standards

  • Ensure that all drawings comply with relevant Australian building codes, local and state government zoning laws, and safety standards.
  • Keep updated with the latest industry standards and regulations, applying them to drafting practices.
  • Identify potential design issues and bring them to the attention of architects to resolve before the design is finalized.

4. Revisions & Updates

  • Review and revise existing drawings and plans to reflect modifications or corrections as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Keep all project files and drawing versions organized and updated, ensuring that the latest version is always accessible.
  • Conduct periodic checks to ensure that changes in client requirements or site conditions are incorporated into the drawings promptly.

5. Materials, Fittings & Fixtures Specifications

  • Prepare a project specification document of all materials, fittings, and fixtures used on the project, including quantities, based on construction documentation and interior design.
  • Collaborate with project architect to ensure all items are captured.

6. Quality Control & Troubleshooting

  • Review drafts and final drawings for accuracy, ensuring that measurements, dimensions, and other details are precise and correct.
  • Audit full project documentation set for accuracy and eliminate any conflicts between, working drawings, interior design drawings and specification.
  • Identify potential issues in designs or drawings and propose solutions to address them before project execution.
  • Support the architectural team with troubleshooting and problem-solving during the design and construction phases.

7. Software Proficiency

  • Utilize Revit and AutoCAD software to produce documentation.
  • Stay updated with new versions of drafting software, adopting new techniques and features to improve drawing efficiency and quality.
  • Use Photoshop and InDesign where required for presentation documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Drafting Technology, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Draftsperson or CAD technician with an Australian company.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit.
  • Moderate experience in AutoCAD, Photoshop and InDesign.

Skill Set:

  • Detailed residential construction knowledge and understanding of NCC and Australian Standards.
  • Knowledge of Victorian local government policy and processes (Rescode) highly regarded.
  • Ability to engage, communicate with, and assess the works of external consultants.
  • Analytical, with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects concurrently; to manage project workflow, milestones, and have a good understanding of project management in a fast moving environment.
  • An interest and finesse in working across technical and design based tasks.
  • An ability to raise project related questions, pursue a response, and find a solution.
