Position Description:
We are seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) freelance contractor to work as a Magento Developer. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the Adobe Commerce/Magento ecosystem, including Hyva theme development, and possess a strong understanding of Magento’s limitations and best practices. You will collaborate with marketing and leadership teams to define technical requirements, develop features from product requirement documents and UX designs, and work closely with a Magento maintenance provider to manage pull-requests and oversee the deployment process. Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS (vanilla + Tailwind), and GitHub is essential.



About the work:
Collaborate with marketing and leadership teams to define technical requirements and solutions for updates to Magento stores.
Lead the development of features based on product requirement documents and UX designs, ensuring alignment with project goals.
Work closely with the Magento maintenance/infrastructure provider to review, test, and revise pull-requests, ensuring smooth deployment.
Utilize Magento’s core functionality and make informed decisions on when to implement customizations based on project needs.
Execute development tasks using technologies such as PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS (vanilla + Tailwind), and GitHub.
Ensure that all code adheres to Magento’s best practices and performance standards while addressing project-specific limitations.


Boxes to check:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field
At least 5 years experience as a Magento Developer. (Agency experience will be a huge plus)
Proven experience working with Adobe Commerce/Magento, including Hyva theme development.
Strong understanding of Magento best practices and the ability to balance core functionality vs. customizations.
Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS (vanilla + Tailwind), and GitHub.
Ability to collaborate effectively with marketing, leadership teams, and external Magento maintenance providers.
Experience in developing features from product requirement documents and UX designs.
Strong problem-solving skills with experience in testing and revising pull-requests through the deployment process.
Excellent communication and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.


About the role:
• Part-time position at $18/hr, working 20 hours per week (must mirror client's schedule)
• Night shifts with fixed weekends off
• Freelance job without benefits, insurance, or paid time off
• Long-term engagement/contract
• Permanent work-from-home setup
