Job Summary
The head of Brand & Marketing is the highest-ranking member of a company’s marketing department. She/He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s marketing efforts, including developing and implementing marketing strategies, managing the work of other marketers, and ensuring that everyone on their team is working toward the same set of goals.
The Brand & Marketing Dept head leads the end-to-end Brand & Marketing experience as you bring loved products to customers from concept and development to store activation. From determining category and product positioning and strategy, naming, competitive analysis, core value prioritization and external communications, you help shape the Unique Selling Proposition of the product and the Brand, and help it grow a consumer base. This means you work with a cross-functional team across Sales, Commissary, Purchasing, and more. In this role, s/he will be involved with the overall product category strategy of the brand from beginning to end.
In this role, s/he will be responsible for the design and development of Market Research to further explore and develop business opportunities for the brand by nurturing an intimate understanding of our various consumer segments through commissioned market research.
Main Duties, Responsibilities
- Developing a marketing plan that outlines the goals of the organization and establishes the strategies to achieve them
- Evaluating the effectiveness of marketing campaigns Overseeing all aspects of marketing including branding, advertising, public relations, social media, event planning, website development, and more
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and suppliers.
- Creating an overall marketing strategy that meets the organization’s objectives.
- Evaluate customer feedback and recommend improvements to products, services, and marketing campaigns
- Oversee market research and analysis to identify opportunities and trends
- Monitor competitor activity and adjust marketing plans accordingly to maintain a competitive edge
- Manage external agencies and vendors to ensure timely delivery of high-quality work that meets or exceeds expectations
- Oversee the production of all marketing materials, including print, digital, and social media content
- Stay up-to-date on latest industry trends and developments
- Supervise and mentor marketing team members, providing guidance and coaching to help them develop their skills and careers
- Plan and oversee promotional activities and events, such as trade shows, conferences, and product launches.
- Manage the organization’s website and social media presence.
- Responsible for reviewing franchisee profit/margin figures as it relates to products & category performance, and sales reports, compared to targets to ensure strong performance and trends, making and implementing approved recommendations for any necessary course correction to address gaps
- Responsible for designing and implementing Market Research needs of the Brand to drive better organization-wide understanding of relevant consumer behavior and segments.
- Responsible for optimizing category potential and proactively exploiting opportunities and addressing weaknesses by reviewing category performance, analyzing and researching internal and industry sales data and trends, and relevant industry and competitor insights and data, including reviewing best practices across channels, to ensure strong performance vs. market trends.
Job Qualifications
- Have a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, related field; or equivalent requirement in working experience
- Have at least 6+ years of experience with product development, category management, marketing, and/or channel management
- Have at least 6+ years of experience leading a team in a management role, and have actively worked with a team in previous roles
- You will be a highly preferred candidate if you have at least 3+ years of experience with initiating, designing, and/or executing Market Research for products, brands, or business ideas
- Have experience that will demonstrate a faster-moving, entrepreneurial mindset. Experience in developing a significant innovation or brand with measurable results will make you a highly preferred candidate.
- Are comfortable, skilled, and proficient in understanding formal and informal consumer research and how to use data to inform actionable insights; prior experience using or conducting food-related consumer research will make you a preferred candidate
