JOB SUMMARY
Environmental Scanning
- The scanning of the external environment, specifically looking into the Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Legal (PESTEL) factors, and identifies key areas of significance.
- Manages the team in environmental scanning and provides direction & guidance; presides during meetings where Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Legal (PESTEL) trends are reported and relevant conclusions and recommendations are determined; prepares the Environmental Scanning Report containing the trends, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations and presents them to the Business Development Head.
Market Research
- The analysis on trends of market variables and studies competitor behaviour; notes developments in the market and assesses their impacts on company operations.
- Following directions from the Business Development Head on the specific Business Development Area to study, identifies key market variables (market supply and demand, competitor analysis, etc.) in these areas for further research and assigns these to the team; presides the meetings where these market variables are discussed and assessed to flesh out relevant conclusions and recommendations; prepares the Market Research Report containing all relevant information and presents them to the Business Development Head.
Business Development
- Using results of Environmental Scanning and Market Research identifies opportunities and threats to the company; Identifies key business opportunities and explores their viability; digs deeper into the fundamentals and provides an assessment of whether to proceed with development; presents the results to the board/top management for approval.
- Following the identified potential projects, conducts research and due diligence and creates the Business Development Plan containing the processes and requirements for the development of these projects and assigns responsibility areas to the team; responsibility areas are: - project development, covering regulatory and legal documentation permits, requirements, and compliances, and the feasibility study - financial, covering the financial model, banking documentation and requirements, and the market study - technical, covering all technical aspects including, but not limited to, technology, location, supply chain, and all technical studies and documentation;
- Presides the meetings where updates on these areas are discussed and issues resolved; prepares the report on these and presents them to the Business Development Head.
Project Development
- Manages an ad hoc team that would facilitate the exploration and development (studies, permits, financial models) of the identified and approved business opportunities; creates the development timeline and prepares the budget; regularly provide updates to the board/top management.
- Following the identified potential projects, conducts research and due diligence and creates the Business Development Plan containing the processes and requirements for the development of these projects and assigns responsibility areas to the team; responsibility areas are: - project development, covering regulatory and legal documentation permits, requirements, and compliances, and the feasibility study - financial, covering the financial model, banking documentation and requirements, and the market study - technical, covering all technical aspects including, but not limited to, technology, location, supply chain, and all technical studies and documentation;
- Presides the meetings where updates on these areas are discussed and the issues resolved; prepares the report on these and presents them to the Business Development Head.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Engineering, Economics, Business/Management
- At least 5 years of relevant business development experience, preferably in the power industry with emphasis on renewable energy;
- Expertise in technical, financial/commercial, and project development; aspects of business development;
- Has a wide network of contacts; and
- Willing to work onsite at Makati City.
