About The Role

The Test Head is accountable for the overall delivery and quality of testing services provided by MSME Technology Testing Delivery. This role involves strategic planning, coordination, and oversight of all testing activities to ensure that IT solutions meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

The Test Head will directly manage the Test Managers who then manage the Test Analysts – as such the Test Head is accountable for driving continuous improvement and innovation in domain specific, i.e. MSME and BBS, testing practices.

How you'll contribute:

Strategic Planning and Coordination: Develop and implement a comprehensive testing strategy that aligns with Tech and business segment goals. Collaborate with senior stakeholders, including business product owners, initiative owners and internally within Tech the Service Delivery Lead, Technology Delivery Managers, Engineering teams, and System Analysts, to define and plan all required test activities. Ensure that testing strategies are integrated into project plans from the outset by leveraging the entire testing team effectively form intake to actual test execution

Leadership and Supervision: Lead, mentor, and supervise Test Managers, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to execute their roles effectively. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and excellence within the testing teams. Work with TCOE to ensure compliance to project, program, CR success metrics and criteria in the execution of all test plans.

Quality Assurance and Control: Oversee the development and maintenance of test plans, test strategies, and test cases to ensure comprehensive testing of requirements. Ensure traceability of test cases back to requirements and adherence to quality standards and policies. Covers both the output of MSME Technology Test Delivery team and the central TCOE (execution and automation)

Resource Management: Ensure that all testing teams have the necessary tools, resources, and environments to perform their tasks efficiently. Manage the allocation of resources across projects to optimize test execution and quality

Defect Management and Reporting: Oversee the defect management process, ensuring that all defects are documented, tracked, managed, and escalated as required. Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of testing activities, including progress, risks, and issues

Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the MSME Technology. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in software testing and quality assurance and implement changes to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness. Create reusable assets and libraries (manual and automated) for MSME Technology

Compliance and Governance: Ensure that all testing activities comply with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and ethical behavior.

What we’re looking for:

  • 7 years and above of experience in Software Testing and Quality Assurance, with a minimum of 2 years of experience leading test teams preferrable in a banking environment or financial services
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field

Field of Specialization:

  • Strong test management skills: experience leading and managing testing and quality assurance activities and teams, and be able to effectively plan, organize, and manage test resources
  • Leadership and mentoring skills: lead and mentor a team of test analysts including external and internal resources, and be able to effectively manage their performance in software tests
  • Strong technical skills: good understanding of different technology systems and be able to work closely with technical teams to ensure that projects are delivered to the required quality standards
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies, techniques and best practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), Test Automation, and Continuous Testing
  • Knowledge of test management tools and software, such as HP Quality Center, JIRA, and TestRail
  • Knowledge of testing frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, TestNG, and JUnit

Preferred Certification/Professional License:

  • Professional certifications in software testing, such as ISTQB - International Software Testing Qualifications Board, ISEB - Information Systems Examination Board, and QAI - Quality Assurance Institute
  • Professional Certifications in Project Management such as Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2 Practitioner
  • Professional Certifications in leadership such as PMI-ACP, Scrum Master (CSM)
  • Certifications in test management tools and software, such as HP Quality Center, JIRA, and TestRail
  • Certifications in testing frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, TestNG, and JUnit
