Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Influence:

  • Lead and drive engineering initiatives by influencing and collaborating with factory teams to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment across various teams.

Project Oversight

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects across the Asia region.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project integration.

Technical Expertise

  • Support the factories’ journey to build the Masterplan and define the best fit technology needed for the future.
  • Develop and deploy the technology framework for each factory for assigned technology, acting as the single point resource for factory engineering teams for technology selection (process design/machine selection).
  • Support factory engineering teams in Concept & FEED (pre-capex) engineering stages in defining the technical solution, with higher support for newer/higher risk technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for improving capital efficiency via development or rollout of new technologies, qualification of low-cost vendors, and increasing productivity of existing assets (BCT/line speed increase, etc.).
  • Support the category’s savings & quality improvement projects by working closely with R&D in idea development & MPT stage.
  • Partner with cluster planning team in defining the technology solution for all 70/20 innovation projects, ensuring smooth transition of innovation projects to execution.
  • Ensure best engineering practices & designs are implemented across the cluster.
  • Act as the single point of contact for the Global Engineering team for technology transfer, including global innovations, updates to engineering standards, globally developed new technologies (e.g., higher speed lines), representing the cluster in relevant global networks or COP, and critical safety or quality interventions led globally.
  • Lead the early phase definition & development of strategic projects, working closely with the business (brief/concept stage) until a dedicated team is put in place (e.g., acquisitions, new plants, whitespace entry, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Operational Management or Project Engineering (may also come from Maintenance Engineering, Production Engineering, Utility Engineering, etc.) with experience delivering projects in FMCG/related industry.
  • Has at least 3-5 years experience in a leadership role.
  • Self-driven with a strong drive to learn and high intensity to deliver targets.
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills to collaborate and drive others, mainly site engineering.
  • Familiar with Foods core processing technology, core packing technology, and factory operation.
  • Proven track record of managing engineering projects and delivering successful outcomes through influence and collaboration.
  • Significant Project/Design Management experience.
  • Deep knowledge/experience of designated Category Technologies.
  • First-hand experience/track record of design or delivery of capital projects within Unilever or similar FMCG environment.
  • Fully operational in terms of knowledge of Core Designs, hygiene & safety requirements of at least a few Foods process technologies.
  • Strong technical knowledge in [specific engineering discipline].
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel within the Asia region as required.
