They are seeking a Senior WordPress Developer to support and enhance their WordPress sites and assist with the delivery of other PHP-based applications. Key Responsibilities:
Supporting and Interacting (15%)
- Develop strong collaborative relationships with business stakeholders at all levels, based on trust, respect, and accountability for the successful delivery of technology projects.
- Ensure quick turnaround of critical support issues for production systems.
- Frequently seek opportunities to augment customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior developers.
- Assess requirements for completeness and provide clarifications where needed.
- Spearhead team estimation of development work, enabling informed decisions by business stakeholders.
- Lead the development and deployment of new WordPress websites.
- Customize WordPress themes and plugins to meet business requirements.
- Write PHP code using object-oriented paradigms, software design patterns, and development principles such as DRY, KISS, and SOLID.
- Work with vendors to consume or publish APIs, such as REST services.
- Ensure website security by implementing best practices and collaborating with the IT team to address vulnerabilities.
- Ensure development work (both self-authored and from others via code reviews) conforms to WordPress standards and best practices.
- Deliver solutions that meet business requirements within agreed time and budget constraints.
- Ensure solutions are documented and kept up to date.
- Manage continuous improvement processes, such as proactive technical debt grooming.
- Provide systems architecture solutions for the team and lead discussions around them.
- Ensure the correct toolsets and processes are in place, with relevant staff trained and equipped to deliver successfully.
- Stay updated with the latest web technologies, trends, and WordPress updates to incorporate into projects.
- Invest in personal development through wellbeing initiatives and taking regular leave to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
- Experience in WordPress development.
- Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end technologies such as React.
- In-depth knowledge of WordPress core functionalities, themes, and plugins.
- Experience with custom theme development and plugin customization.
- Familiarity with responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
- Proficiency in MySQL database design and SQL.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented paradigms and software design patterns (e.g., DRY, KISS, SOLID).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce technical documentation.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and best practices.
- Experience with cloud hosting platforms, particularly WP Engine.
- Familiarity with CI/CD environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
