Job Summary
The Insurance Officer is mainly responsible for the procurement and monitoring of the proper insurance cover for the fixed assets of Meralco PowerGen Corporation and its subsidiaries. They will also conduct contracts review, processing of claims, and assist the Head of the Department in different risk management activities.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Insurance Management
- Arranges and monitors the proper insurances needed by the company and subsidiaries
- Ensures that payments for insurance premiums are up-to-date
- Monitors and negotiates the timely renewal of various insurance policies of the company and subsidiaries
- Takes the lead in assessing the evolving insurance needs of the company and subsidiaries and provide the Insurance Head with the necessary input to effect improvements
Claims Management
- Initiates and takes the lead in the filing of claims
- Monitors and ensures settlement of covered claims
Risk Management
- Takes the lead in the conduct of technical survey to all operating plants
- Monitors and ensures timely implementation of loss control recommendations raised during technical survey and elevate overdue items to Insurance Head
Budget Preparation
- Prepares the annual operations budget for insurance and reports monthly expenditures and variances
Policy Orientation
- Prepares the orientation materials and conducts the orientation on a regular basis
- Coordinates with all stakeholders on the orientation schedules
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Must be a graduate of any 4-year degree course
- Work Experience: Must have at least 8 years of experience in insurance, preferably in claims or underwriting
- Nice to have: Adept in contracts review
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
