Position Summary:
The Energy Trading Operations Supervisor will oversee and manage daily trading operations in the Philippine energy market, focusing on process accuracy, compliance, and risk management. This role is critical in supporting trade activities across power, gas, and renewable energy sources, as well as in ensuring the team operates efficiently under Philippine regulatory standards and market practices. This supervisor position requires an understanding of local energy trading frameworks, knowledge of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), and familiarity with the Philippine Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight: Lead and supervise daily trading operations, including trade capture, validation, and settlement processes, to ensure timely and accurate transaction handling within the WESM and bilateral contracting frameworks.
- Real-Time Market Supervision: Oversee Real-Time Energy and Reserve Market operations, enhancing trading performance.
- Portfolio Optimization: Managed Day-Ahead, Real-Time, and Day-After optimization for the portfolio to increase revenue growth
- Team Leadership: Direct a team of traders, implementing performance evaluations and training programs to boost productivity.
- Reporting: Produced detailed trading and financial reports, aiding in strategic decision making.
- Tool Development: Design advanced tools and strategies to optimize portfolio revenue.
- Market Updates: Ensure accuracy and relevance of market and power plant data for trading activities.
- Training: Conduct industry-related seminars and training sessions to enhance team capabilities.
- Trading Activities: Execute bidding and pricing to optimizing trade outcomes.
- BCQ Nominations: Manage BCQ nominations with high precision.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, ERP) is an advantage.
- 5+ years of experience in energy trading operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity
- Strong understanding of the Philippine Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), ERC regulations, and DOE guidelines.
- Proficiency with Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the Philippine regulatory landscape, including ERC and DOE compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in process optimization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to lead and develop teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a high degree of accountability.
