About the Role:
As our in-house accountant, you will be our 'financial conscience,' dedicated to consistently enhancing our financial health by handling core financial tasks, including tracking purchases, sales, receipts, and payments through our primary accounting platform, Xero, and our organisational tool, ASANA. Your attention to accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency will play a vital role in our financial strategy and compliance. Responsibilities:
Financial Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, invoices, receipts, and bank statements, using Xero.
Quote and Invoice Management: Manage quotes and invoices, ensuring all records comply with Australian accounting standards.
Reconciliation and Compliance: Perform regular bank reconciliations, manage tax payments and returns, and ensure adherence to Australian tax laws.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Handle accounts payable and receivable processes, including cash flow forecasting and management.
Payment Processing: Make payments and ensure that all payments align with our payment terms, maintaining a consistent cash flow.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports on performance weekly, monthly, and annually, and assist with tax submissions.
Task Coordination & Deadline Management: Utilise ASANA for project management to keep tasks organised and ensure all deadlines are met.
Timely Support: Provide timely support to the team in all accounting and administrative matters.
Operational Efficiency: Enhance operational efficiency by coordinating tasks effectively and managing time well across responsibilities.
Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive administrative support to the team, helping to maintain streamlined processes and organised financial documentation.
Financial Insights for Decision-Making: Offer detailed financial data to support team decisions and strategic planning.
Software Tools: Utilise Dext alongside Xero to improve data management and streamline workflows.
Additional Tasks: Assist with other finance-related tasks as required to support team needs and maintain smooth operations.
Requirements:
Proficiency in Xero: Demonstrated, proficient use of Xero is essential; certification in Xero is highly preferred.
Accounting Experience: Proven experience with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
Accounting Knowledge: Solid grasp of bookkeeping principles, accounts payable/receivable, and financial records management.
Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills, with high attention to detail.
Tax Compliance: Familiarity with Australian tax laws.
Independent Work & Time Management: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Technical Skills: Skilled in data entry, numbers-focused, and adept with spreadsheets and proprietary software.
Open & Frequent Communication: Maintain clear, open, and frequent communication within the team to ensure smooth operations.
Administrative Capability: Organised and efficient, with experience in providing administrative support to a team.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Accuracy and Quality Standards: Maintain high standards of accuracy in all financial records, with minimal errors or rework needed.
Minimal Revisions: Deliver initial outputs that meet quality expectations, minimising the need for revisions.
Timely Action on Feedback: Action feedback efficiently, ensuring quick adjustments based on team input.
Compliance with Australian Taxation Standards: Consistently meet Australian taxation requirements, ensuring all tasks are compliant.
Prompt Response Times: Respond to team communications via email and WhatsApp promptly, typically within 1 hour during business hours.
Deadline Adherence: Meet deadlines for financial reports, reconciliations, and other tasks, ensuring reliable turnaround times.
