Reporting to the AVP, Information & Vendor Management, this first line risk role is responsible for coordination and execution of the Third-Party Risk Management program (“TPRM”) that is compliant with OSFI B-10 Third-Party Risk Management Guideline. This is a dynamic role to support the application of the TPRM controls and process framework across the Asia region, will guide the Asia TPRM team, and assist multiple diverse business units and functions in TPRM transformation activities, driving innovation and strengthening program governance, effectiveness and efficiency. The BU TPRM teams will have dual reporting to this role (and to the BU COO).
Responsibilities
Be the key person to embed an effective framework for TPRM policy and operating guidelines in Asia:
- Support Asia TPRM team, cross functional regional teams and Asia Business Units and work closely with second line Risk teams in the effective rollout of the TPRM Policy and operating guidelines and continuous improvement of the execution of the TPRM program which includes enhancements to the tools and processes.
- Assist in supporting Asia BU Operations organization in establishing a sustainable and appropriate structure, resources, and capabilities.
- Assist in building and maintaining a strong team of TPRM professionals who will appropriately manage the third-parry risk of Asia BG and drive process efficiency.
- Represent Asia BG at the various TPRM forums with Corporate and SLF counterparts on strategic and tactical matters, support decision making in the forums and actively provide advice and/or escalate issues where appropriate.
- Oversee compliance to the policy including monitoring and remediation of Policy non-compliances and reporting progress of material gaps and issue resolution, and present at senior management meetings where needed; and
- Work on creating Asia procedures, develop and deliver training to the Asia BU teams and other stakeholders, as required, to support the development of the TPRM program.
Qualifications
- University degree with 10 to 15+ years’ experience working in Asia with operations, risk management, procurement, preferably in insurance industry.
- Experienced in running a regional program is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of the Asia culture and business environment across Asian countries.
- Possesses direct experience in managing a diverse team.
- Proven experience in stakeholder management, at the corporate, regional, and local business levels.
- Demonstrable experience of developing strong work relationships with cross-functional business areas and multi-stakeholder landscape to drive execution of key deliverables and facilitate successful risk management within the Three Lines of Defense model.
- Excellent communicator. Has the grit and gravitas to push the TPRM program forward and drive transformation
- Strong knowledge of third-party risk management principles, factors and best practices that contribute to third-party risks, with the ability to assess, measure and monitor risk.
- Solid understanding of life insurance
- A good understanding of the different risk domains pertaining to third party risk management and their unique requirements is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge and experience on process design/redesign and implementation
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Positive and open-minded attitude, a natural willingness to support the team and adaptable mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving organization.
- Well-developed writing and visual presentation skills to sufficiently articulate analytics results, options, recommendations, and reporting.
