Consultant – HR Data Analytics

At Northern Trust, data drives all of our decision-making, and HR is no exception. The HR Workforce Analytics team pioneers Northern Trust’s approach to talent strategy and organizational growth. As a member of the team, you will play an important role in helping our HR team address the people-related data and analytical needs of internal clients across the globe.

Supporting the team as a Consultant is much more than simply crunching numbers – it’s about finding compelling insights within data and using your business and communication skills to translate those insights into action. Aside from spending time digging into big, complex data sets, you will help author transformational strategic planning, forecasting and analysis efforts using workforce data. You will use your critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills to influence and drive thoughtful, well-informed decision making with our most senior leaders across HR and the business.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and understand HR business processes to identify/craft optimal decisions and strategies
  • Materialize strategies by utilizing data models/processes to design and develop enduring business intelligence solutions
  • Cultivate understanding of key user needs, current state processes, and macro-level trends to architect future state blueprint using a design-centered approach
  • Co-develop target state aspirations including client journeys, innovative offerings, dynamic tools and dashboards, transformative capabilities with senior business leaders
  • Develop data solutions like dashboards that will help influence talent decisions
  • Leverage client-facing skills with a flexible communication style and the ability to communicate complex concepts and analytics in a structured manner
  • Develop and execute comprehensive change management strategies that effectively drive awareness, change, and adoption of new tools, policies, and processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or related field
  • 4 years of experience in management consulting or business strategy, with work experience as an analyst or in an analytical role
  • Knowledge in data wrangling, data visualization and data analysis methods (regression, forecasting, etc.)
  • Knowledge on data science programming languages preferred (R, Python, SQL , etc)
  • Knowledge in building data products such as dashboards in PowerBI
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with capability to process large amounts of data to drive business strategies and decisions
  • Ability to self-start and self-direct work in an unstructured and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work comfortably in ambiguous situations
