Position Overview:
As a Tax Specialist, you will manage and optimize tax compliance and strategic tax planning for both the business and personal tax needs of the business owner. You will be responsible for reviewing and organizing past years’ tax records, developing tax-saving strategies, and ensuring compliance with IRS standards. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives on taking initiative and devising strategies for maximum tax efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tax Compliance, Organization, and Preparation
• Prepare and file federal and state tax returns for both business and personal taxes, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
• Review past tax filings, correct any inconsistencies, and establish organized records for future reference.
• Manage quarterly tax estimates, payroll tax filings, and sales tax reporting for full compliance on both fronts.
• Handle IRS communications, ensuring all documentation and filings align with US tax laws and regulations.
2. Penalty Reduction and IRS Alignment
• Identify and implement strategies to reduce existing penalties, liaising with tax authorities to resolve outstanding issues.
• Organize historical tax records to prevent future penalties and maintain strong compliance.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to bring outstanding tax matters into full compliance with IRS standards.
3. Tax Planning, Strategy, and Leadership
• Lead in creating and implementing innovative, tax-saving strategies for both business and personal filings.
• Provide guidance on tax-efficient transaction structuring and decision-making for financial health.
• Act as a thought leader, driving both business and personal tax planning with creativity and expertise.
4. Financial Reporting and Documentation Management
• Prepare detailed financial and tax reports, documenting compliance, tax savings, and current business and personal tax positions.
• Maintain organized and accessible records, ensuring readiness for audits or IRS reviews.
5. Risk Management and Audit Preparation
• Prepare for audits by gathering documentation, addressing inquiries, and ensuring compliance.
• Evaluate tax-related risks and recommend proactive strategies to minimize exposure.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in US tax preparation, compliance, and strategy with proven expertise in business and personal tax matters. If you do not have this experience, please do not apply.
• Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of US federal and state tax laws, IRS compliance, and penalty reduction strategies.
• Skills:
• Proficient in tax preparation software and financial accounting systems.
• Strong organizational skills, especially in managing complex and historical tax records.
• Effective English communication skills for professional interactions with US-based tea m me mbers and tax authorities.
• Leadership qualities, with an ability to provide direction in tax planning and problem-solving independently.
• Availability: Willing to work some US business hours for seamless communication with the US-based team.
