We are seeking a skilled Billing Specialist with expertise in medical billing, insurance verification, and claims management. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient handling of billing operations and maintaining positive relationships with clients and insurance providers.

Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Verification and Billing:
- Verify client insurance coverage and benefits, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Obtain pre-authorizations and document coverage details, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
- Submit and manage claims through electronic or paper submissions, ensuring proper documentation.
- Handle denied claims, investigate issues, and collaborate with insurance companies to resolve them.
- Reconcile claims and payments, review EOBs, and maintain detailed records of transactions.
- Manage accounts receivable, track payments, and pursue delinquent accounts when necessary.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and ensure all sensitive information is handled securely.
Credentialing:
- Coordinate with insurance companies to credential clinicians and maintain updated provider profiles (e.g., CAQH).
- Ensure timely renewals of credentials and track contract expiration dates.
- Communicate with payors to resolve credentialing-related issues promptly.
Administrative Support:
- Create and maintain a Quality Assurance document for client billing and insurance verification.
- Provide accurate and timely updates on billing processes and insurance-related changes.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure seamless operations and compliance with industry standards.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in mental health or behavioral health.
- Familiarity with medical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as SimplePractice or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of insurance verification, claims management, and denial resolution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a secure, dedicated workspace free of distractions.
- Ability to work in the U.S. Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone.
- HIPAA certification or familiarity with patient privacy regulations is a plus.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
