Role Summary:
Synct is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a strong background in Australian tax laws and principles to perform and coordinate accounting duties for our clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing tax returns, and ensuring compliance with Australian taxation standards. A strong ability to manage workloads and communicate effectively with clients is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and complete personal workflow tasks.
Meet financial, non-financial, and professional development KPIs.
Prepare clear and detailed work papers and timesheet entries.
Monitor work in progress (WIP), identify jobs over budget, and communicate issues.
Follow processes strictly while maintaining high standards.
Take detailed meeting notes and identify follow-up tasks.
Develop and execute plans to complete meeting action items.
Prepare Financial Statements, Income Tax Returns, BAS & IAS for Australian SME clients (Individuals, Companies, Trusts, Partnerships, and Sole Traders).
Handle Div7a, capital gains, and fringe benefits tax workpapers and accounts.
Create tax planning and investment strategy reports.
Assess complex tax matters for senior team review.
Scope work appropriately and plan for job completion.
Identify and implement improvements in file or data collection for future work.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Senior Tax Accountant in an Australian accounting firm.
Proven experience with Div7a, Capital Gains Tax (CGT), and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with excellent time management and prioritization.
Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining and improving processes.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks.
