CLIENT BACKGROUND

Our client is a California-based quick service restaurant chain, specializing in high-quality chicken dishes. Founded in 2016, they currently operate 14 company-owned restaurants and are expanding through franchising. Driven by outstanding unit-level economics, they’ve partnered with exceptional private equity investors to grow their base of company-owned stores and launched a franchise program to further accelerate growth.

Recently, they won Nation's Restaurant News' 2023 Chicken Showdown, and they aim to reinvent the fast food experience. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Collaborate with the Corporate Controller and other department heads
• Review financial statements to identify trends and opportunities
• Respond to inquiries from store managers and executives

General Ledger Management

• Perform monthly account reconciliations
• Review and post journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy.
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Review inventory reports and process adjusting entries

Month-End and Year-End Close

• Prepare accruals, prepaids, and other adjusting entries.
• Assist in the preparation of year-end audits and tax filings.

Accounts Payable and Receivable Oversight

• Monitor and ensure timely processing of AP and AR.
• Review AP and AR aging reports and address overdue balances.
• Oversee reconciliation of vendor statements and customer accounts.

Compliance and Internal Controls

• Maintain compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements i.e. Census Bureau.
• Reconcile bank accounts

Payroll and Benefits Accounting

• Oversee payroll journal entries (salaried) and reconcile payroll accounts (all).
• Manage benefit and 401(k) reconciliations.
• Ensure proper classification and allocation of payroll expenses.

Fixed Assets and Depreciation

• Maintain the fixed asset register and track capital expenditures.
• Calculate and post monthly depreciation.
• Assist in asset audits and reporting.

Audit and Tax Support

• Liaise with auditors to provide requested documentation.
• Support tax filing preparations, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax.

Financial Systems and Process Improvement

• Leverage NetSuite / ERP system to streamline processes.
• Identify inefficiencies and recommend system or workflow improvements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of US accounting experience, with at least one year in a senior role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
