We are currently seeking a skilled and detailed-oriented Business Writer to fill an exciting role within Optum. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality content across multiple-business functions, including business documents such as work instructions and job aids. This role will also be tasked to work on process documentation. You will collaborate with internal teams to translate complex business concepts into clear, and engaging content that supports organizational goals.

This position requires strong research, writing, and editing skills, as well as the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences and formats. The ideal candidate has experience in professional business writing, a strong understanding of corporate communication strategies, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  1. Research and write business-related content, including reports, case studies, job aids, work instructions, process documents, proposals, articles, and presentations.
  2. Develop clear and audience-focused content that aligns with company goals and brand voice for internal and external employees.
  3. Ensure accuracy and consistency in all written materials.
  4. Ensure consistency in grammar, tone, and formatting across all materials.
  5. Assist in editing and proofreading business documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
  6. Review and proofread business documents to ensure clarity and professionalism.
  7. Collaborate with teams across the organization to gather information and translate complex topics into easily understandable content.

Qualifications:

Technical Skills

  • Experience (1+ year) of business writing and editing.
  • Experience (3+ years) using Microsoft Office suite of applications/tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong command of business language.
  • Strong editing, proofreading, and formatting abilities.
  • Knowledge of information architecture, content taxonomies, and design standards
  • Demonstrated experience in content optimization and delivering brand consistency
  • Ability to speak and write proficiently in the English language.
  • Ability to simplify complex business concepts into clear, engaging language.
  • Solves routine problems by following established procedures
  • Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving and decision making required.
  • Skills in organizing work to achieve goals and objectives.
