Job Description:

Governance and Process Compliance:

  • Enforce adherence to Sun Life’s governance frameworks, templates, and standards to ensure consistency and quality across projects, including providing training and coaching of proper use of PPM tools
  • Conduct compliance checks and provide guidance to teams on meeting process requirements and documentation
  • Identify and recommend enhancements to existing governance processes to improve efficiency and outcomes

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Track metrics, develop and maintain dashboards to report on platform/project/product performance, delivery metrics, and portfolio health
  • Analyze project data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement

Financial Governance:

  • Track project budgets, financial forecasts, and actuals to ensure alignment with approved funding and compliance with financial policies
  • Support financial performance reporting, including identifying variances and assisting with corrective actions

Risk and Issue Management:

  • Identify risks and issues across initiatives, and collaborate with the Functions / Markets to drive timely resolution and mitigation
  • Proactively identify dependencies and bottlenecks to maintain smooth execution

Communications and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Prepare and distribute clear, concise communication materials such as project updates, governance changes, and strategic initiative reports
  • Act as a point of contact for project teams / squads, ensuring timely and accurate information sharing across stakeholders
  • Assist in facilitating meetings, workshops, and retrospectives, ensuring follow-ups are documented and addressed

Team Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Act as a bridge between agile squads / project teams, agile coaches, and leaders
  • Provide coaching and support to agile teams to enhance their effectiveness and alignment with PMO standards

What you will need to succeed:

  • College or University degree
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a PMO, project management, or project support role.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and traditional project management frameworks.
  • Proficiency in project management and tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, MS Project) and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • A continuous improvement mindset to look for opportunities to improve, integrate, simplify processes, and leverage automation

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge on leading industry process frameworks such as COBIT, Design Thinking
  • Automation / Development experience
  • Experience in market research or participation in design thinking projects is a plus
  • Experience in the life insurance industry
