International Data Corporation (IDC) seeks an experienced professional to join Asia/Pacific’s leading technology research team as an Associate Research Editor (Assoc. RE) based in our Manila office. Reporting directly to the Asia/Pacific Publishing Manager, in conjunction with regional interaction within our Publishing Services & Technologies Group (PS&T), the successful incumbent responsibilities will include:

In this role, the Assoc. RE will be responsible for document formatting, data checking, language editing, and proofreading — maintaining the highest level of editorial quality of IDC research documents and other IDC publications while providing the fastest possible throughput times to speed IDC thought to market. The Assoc. RE will focus on English language editorial and document formatting for our IDC Asia/Pacific operations, primarily Southeast Asian countries where English is a second language. The Assoc. RE will work with analysts to uphold and maintain IDC's research architecture requirements and provide publishing-related training when necessary. The Assoc. RE’s primary function is to ensure the written quality of IDC’s research documents delivered within the required service-level agreements (SLAs). The role covers the following specific tasks:
- Proofreading, copy editing, and language editing of IDC documents
- Formatting IDC documents according to IDC's standards and requirements
- Data checking and analysis
- Ensuring data integrity
- Undertaking administrative functions (such as updating the Asia/Pacific PS&T editing schedule and other publishing-related schedules, maintaining workload trackers, attending and preparing minutes of meetings, analyzing relevant metrics, coordinating IDC style updates, preparing training content and materials, and posting editing feedback to analysts, to name a few)
- Answering publishing-related queries of analysts
- Assisting/providing training to analysts on IDC Templates, PS&T's content management system, English grammar and basic writing
Qualifications:
- Preferably with experience working for an equivalent publishing sector specializing in editing, data checking, and proofreading (entry level is accepted as long as English proficiency is excellent)
- With minimum university or college degree (English, Communication Arts, or Mass Communication degrees are an advantage)
- Demonstrates above-average to excellent English proficiency both written and verbal
- Demonstrates above-average to excellent skills in copyediting and language editing, proofreading, data checking, and formatting
- Demonstrates above-average aptitude to do research and data mining
- Demonstrates strong sense of urgency and commitment to quality and SLAs
- Demonstrates deep understanding of plagiarism and IP rights, and can spot such violations
- Demonstrates above-average organization, time management, and stress management skills
- Process oriented and can follow and keep up with the workflow efficiently
- Has intermediate- to advanced-level knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT) and Microsoft 365 applications; knowledge of AI tools a plus
- Numerically literate, patient, meticulous, and disciplined; must be analytical and detail-driven
- Copes well with pressure, particularly with tight deadlines and multiple competing demands
- Exhibits positive mindset toward achieving team and individual goals and objectives
- Gives utmost attention to detail, both qualitative and quantitative, and has a strong self-motivated, independent work ethics
- Knowledge of any Asian language (such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean) considered a plus
- Knowledge of information technology and basic business dynamics is advantageous
- Ability to work Asia/Pacific hours, 9am-6pm
