Job Summary:

The Revenue Accounting Manager is responsible for the full cycle of global revenue and COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) accounting (ASC 606), including performing all revenue processes and approvals, reporting requirements, revenue technical memos, and audit support for both international and US entities. The Revenue Accounting Manager will review all Accounts

Receivable (AR) customers and subledger accounts to ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual billings. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing all renewal customers, accrued

revenue and the AR Allowance for Doubtful Accounts. This position must ensure that all payments are promptly applied to customer accounts and that all credit memos are properly created and applied to customer accounts. Additionally, this position must ensure that all sales tax is billed correctly to customers. The Revenue Accounting Manager works with Sales Operations, the AR Global Team, Legal, and Systems Groups to resolve issues that may have a revenue, COGS, and sales tax impact. This position requires a strong understanding of ASC 606 and GAAP accounting knowledge and will report to the Director, Global Controller. This position also oversees a revenue staff accountant who reviews deals and quotes in Salesforce (SFDC), approved estimates in NetSuite, and prepares COGS amortization and COGS deferral schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare billing validations and run revenue recognition for the month-end close. This includes reconciling a high volume of billing invoices and uploading Pilot, Hardware, and department revenue into NetSuite, as well as preparing Revenue terminations.
  • Prepare deferred revenue forward and reconcile all sales journals and sales tax.
  • Review all customer accounts receivable (AR subledger accounts) to ensure there are no credit balances in customer accounts.
  • Review all cash payments posted by the Collection team to ensure that all cash transactions are properly applied to customer accounts and that no unapplied payments remain in NetSuite.
  • Review all journal entries (both AR and revenue accounts) to ensure appropriate revenue and deferred revenue treatment.
  • Perform SSP analysis and create processes to maintain SSP analysis on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide revenue accounting guidance and advice on highly visible transactions that are impactful to the organization's overall objectives.
  • Perform controls and procedures to review customer contracts such as MSA, ASQ and PO agreements.
  • Reconciling commissions and bonuses, coordinating with Operations and HR teams.
  • ARR and Power BI Review at customer store level and explain churns in Power BI.Communicate with the AR Team to correct billing errors.
  • Resolving sales tax issues. Communicating and following up with the State Sales Tax Department to resolve issues in our tax software to enable filing.
  • Must be able to work with multiple divisions, such as the AR Global team, Sales, Operations, Support, Logistics, Legal, and HR, to ensure all assigned revenue and cogs tasks are completed.
  • Responsible for analyzing and recording stock-based compensation expenses (SBC), managing equity areas for equity grants, vested stock options and exercise stock options.
  • Prepare equity rollforward.
  • Participate in annual financial audit activities of external auditors, as required for both international and US entities.
  • Lead Sales tax audits.
  • Lead Tax Provisions (Federal and state income Tax Returns)
  • Perform key control activities identified for relevant revenue and cogs accounting areas.
  • Manage staff accountant who approves opportunities and quotes through SFDC and prepares COGS amortization and COGS deferral for month-end close.
  • Ability to take the lead on special projects as delegated by upper management to support and streamline Finance & Accounting processes
  • Revenue and Cogs memos.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Required skills:

  • Ability to partner and collaborate with various teams throughout the organization.
  • Ability to communicate with US State departments to resolve tax issues.
  • Ability to independently manage time, complete work, and meet deadlines using accounting expertise and company processes
  • MUST HAVE a deep understanding of accounting knowledge such as US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Expertise with accounting systems such as MS Excel, SalesForce, NetSuite, and PowerBI, Carta, and Avalara software.
  • Ability to perform accounts analysis and accounts reconciliation.
  • Must be able to independently handle all revenue, COGS, commission, and accounts receivable subledger review and assignments.
  • Ability to understand foreign exchange currency as well as currency translation.
