The Accounting Manager is responsible for executing the management function of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the different tasks in the Accounting Department in order to accomplish its role in attaining the goals and objectives of the company.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management Functions - Conceptual and Interpersonal
- Plans, executes and directs the development of the annual departmental and consolidated plan and budget of the Accounting Department.
- Defines, organizes, and assigns appropriate duties and responsibilities to each staff; provides leadership and ensures that their work performance is within standards.
- Manages the day-to-day tasks of the Department and ensures its smooth operation.
- Ensures that internal control procedures are observed and implemented in all areas of accounting transactions in order to safeguard the funds and assets of the company.
- Conceptualizes, automates manual processes, puts in place all Accounting system, policies, and procedures and enforces implementation.
- Maintains proper communication, coordination and interaction with other departments.
- Manages and oversees accurate and timely submission of statutory compliance required by Government Regulatory Agencies, such as the submission of Tax Reports and Tax Returns.
- Provides important recommendations to Management in the control of funds.
- Minimizes risks and losses that might arise from financial transactions and operations.
- Ensures and monitors proper charging of controlled expense to accounts.
- Develops and implements simplification strategies to streamline processing of recurring finance-related activities.
- Attends monthly Management Committee meetings and reports on the Accounting Department’s accomplishments; status of tasks and activities; and other related matters.
Accounts Payable
- Ensures effective and efficient management of accounts payable, accrued expenses, and check disbursements.
- Ensures all check vouchers and checks are accurately prepared and thoroughly reviewed before forwarding to signatories.
Bookkeeping
- Ensures that a coded standard Chart of Accounts applicable for the company setting is set up and maintained.
- Ensures that appropriate entries from the right source documents and accurate recording of financial transactions are properly recorded in the different Books of Accounts.
- Ensures that appropriate journal entries for accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and amortization are properly taken up in the journal book.
- Ensures the proper and orderly filing of vouchers and records.
Financial Reporting
- Ensures the accurate and timely preparation and submission of monthly Financial Statements for management’s perusal of the result of the company’s financial operations.
- Collaborates with external auditors for the annual mandatory reportorial requirement for BIR and SEC.
Budget Process
- Ensures the careful planning and preparation of the annual budget in accordance with the goals, objectives, and assumptions of the company where revenues and expenditures are within the approved budget.
Inventory Management - Fixed Assets, Finished Goods, Materials and Supplies
- Ensures proper recording of fixed assets purchases and the efficient and effective historical recording of assets.
- Ensures the proper recording and maintenance in subsidiary ledgers of supplies and materials inventory.
- Ensures accurate periodic physical inventory-taking of all assets at least once a year.
Purchasing
- Ensures that the preparation and approval of Purchase Orders are processed efficiently and that the continuity of supply of both services and materials are maintained to support manufacturing schedule, operations and other departments’ activities.
- Ensures implementation of company prescribed policies in the performance of efficient purchasing functions to maintain company’s competitive position in the industry and conserve its profit insofar as the material and service costs are concerned.
Tax and Regulatory Requirements
- Ensures accurate tax computations; timely payment of taxes and filing of tax returns; and the complete accounting and recording of all applicable taxes for all company transactions.
- Ensures that all regulatory permits and requirements from different government agencies are secured on time.
Legal Documents
- Ensures that all legal documents pertaining to real estate are intact.
- Ensures the timely payment of permits and taxes for real estates.
- Strict monitoring of all legal compliance of the Company.
Store Outlet
- Monitors strictly all accounting transactions and legal compliance of store outlets.
- Ensures the timely payment and submission of taxes.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A graduate from a bachelor degree program in Accountancy; MBA units is a plus
- Must be a Certified Public Accountant
- With at least 10 years of related work experience and 5 years of managerial experience
- Extensive knowledge of all facets in accounting, treasury or financial management; financial statement analysis; account analysis, schedules and narratives
- Knowledge of accounting software and systems in financial, AR/AP management and expense modules; a proficiency in spreadsheet software and Microsoft productivity tools such as Excel; Word and PowerPoint are required
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as LGU, BIR, SEC, DTI, PSA, Credit Investigation Bureau, Bureau of Customs and various bank documentations for credit facilities
- Experience in merchandising and manufacturing is preferred
- Keen on details; results-oriented; ability to meet stringent deadlines
- Has strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- A team player who can work effectively with people at all levels within and outside the Department
