The Accounts Assistant will support the finance department by performing various accounting tasks, including but not limited to, data entry, reconciliations, invoice processing, and assisting with financial reports and payroll functions. The role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
The purpose of the Accounts Admin position is to provide quality, day-to-day support to the management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Accounts Department
- Manage obligations to suppliers, clients and third party vendors
- Reconcile financial statements from suppliers
- Prepare, send and store invoices
- Managing inter-company transactions
- Assisting with Payroll
- Ensuring Consumer statements are sent out in an accurate, timely and complete manner
- Handling communications with clients, suppliers and employees via phone, email and in-person
- Assisting with audits, reviews and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Update internal accounting databases and spreadsheets
- Other ad hoc accounting duties to support the broader team
- Undertake additional financial tasks or projects as assigned by the senior management team
- Collaborate with the Finance Manager to implement more efficient and effective procedures
- Assist in internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations
- Other tasks as delegated to support the ongoing functioning of the client.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years experience as an Accounts Assistant or similar role
- Certificate IV in Book Keeping and a Diploma in Accounting
- Hands on experience with accounting software (preferably Xero)
- Intermediate computer software skills, including excel (vlook ups and tables)
- Solid data entry skills with an ability to identify numerical errors
- Exceptional time management and verbal and written communication skills
- Professional manner and a strong ethical code
- Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive
- Qualifications in finance, accounting, or relevant field
- Capacity to work independently with minimal direction and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong writing skills and ability to compose and present correspondence of a non-specialist nature
- Ability to comply with and awareness of work health and safety (WHS)
- Sound understanding of compliance in Aged Care and NDIS (including the quality standards, WHS, infection prevention and control, and SIRS) setting
- The right to work unrestricted in Australia (evidence will be required)
- A current National Police Records check, dated no later than 3 months from application (or willing to apply for one)
- Working with Children Check (or willing to apply for one)
- NDIS Workers Screening Check (or willing to apply for one)
