As an Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting with the company's day-to-day accounting and financial operations. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and finance leadership to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial processes and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Support the company's day-to-day accounting and financial operations, including AR, AP, payroll, and other GL accounts.
- Assist with forecast/budget preparation including cash flow and PL & BS forecasts.
- Prepare documentation for annual budgets, forecasts, audits, tax planning, and compliance.
- Process invoices, bills, and payments in a timely manner
- Work with vendors to resolve any billing differences
- Record transactions in NetSuite
- Run daily AR and AP invoicing activities and maintain weekly cash flow statements.
- Review expense accounts monthly for incorrectly posted items and record journal entries to reclassify
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to management, including budget vs. actual analysis and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with all accounting and tax regulations
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial professionals
- Abide by financial policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
- Ad hoc reports, as requested
Requirements:
- Proven experience (3+ years) in accounting or finance roles
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation is a plus
- Experience with AR/AP and reconciling balance sheets
- Thorough understanding of GAAP and experience with industry-specific accounting principles (ASC 926, ASC 985-20, ASC 606, etc.)
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems (e.g., NetSuite)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Experience working in the music industry or entertainment sector is a plus
- Familiarity with royalty accounting and music-specific revenue recognition is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, able to work cross-functionally with various teams
- High level of integrity and ethics, ensuring the confidentiality of financial information
- Passion for music and the entertainment industry, with an understanding of its unique financial aspects
