About The Role

Determine HS classification code for products (chemicals, mixtures, industrial equipment, parts and components, consumer goods, etc.) by partnering with customers’ trade compliance, technical and product teams. Define export control classification code for components, products, tooling, equipment as well as for services for applicable jurisdictions. Collect and retain relevant information for audit purposes.

What You Will Do

  • Work with customs’ trade compliance, technical and product teams to get sufficient product information (including specifications, composition, function, usage, etc.) to determine customs classification
  • Analyze products, functionality/use to determine classification
  • Provide classification rationale/logic
  • Provide guidance on classification decisions
  • Maintain system records, documentations and audit history as source of truth
  • Administration of HS classification master databases for customers
  • Apply for and manage customs rulings and binding tariff information
  • Prepare and provide KPIs of performance

Job Requirements

What You Need

  • Good grasp of the WCO General Rules of Interpretation, Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature and Explanatory Notes
  • Experience determining tariff classifications in accordance with the WCO General Rules of Interpretation, Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature and Explanatory Notes
  • Experience with tariff rulings or binding tariff information application
  • Knowledge of export control classification is a plus

Qualifications:

  • Educational qualifications in a relevant field (e.g., International Business, Trade, Logistics).
  • Minimal 2-3 years of experience, with exposure to HTS code classification in chemicals and industrial machinery being an advantage.
  • Former experience in trade compliance is required.
  • Familiarity with trade regulations and customs documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Additional languages spoken and written is a plus.
