Role Purpose & Environment

The role of the Labor Relations Specialist exists to ensure harmonious labor relations within the organization, promoting a productive and positive work environment for all employees.

This person will work closely with various internal stakeholders, including HR teams and department managers, to ensure that labor relations strategies align with the organization's goals. Additionally, they engage with external stakeholders, such as DOLE, government agencies, and industry associations, to stay informed about relevant labor market trends, changes in legislation, and emerging practices.

This Position Seeks To Achieve The Following Objectives

Maintain Compliance: The Labor Relations Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. They play a crucial role in interpreting and applying these legal frameworks to ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees, protecting their rights and benefits.

Foster Employee Engagement: By actively engaging with employees, the Labor Relations Specialist helps to build a strong sense of trust and satisfaction within the workforce. They work closely with internal stakeholders, such as management teams and department heads, to address employee concerns, resolve conflicts, and improve communication channels. This role aims to promote a positive and inclusive work culture that enhances employee engagement and productivity.

Facilitate Negotiations and Dispute Resolution: The Labor Relations Specialist acts as a key facilitator in resolving disputes and grievances, promoting open dialogue, and finding fair resolutions.

Drive Continuous Improvement: This role contributes to the continuous improvement of labor relations practices within the organization. The Labor Relations Specialist actively monitors industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices to ensure the organization remains up to date with evolving labor laws and regulations. By identifying areas for improvement, they propose and implement initiatives that enhance labor relations processes, leading to greater efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor Relations, Employee Relations, or a related field in the Philippines.
  • In-depth Knowledge of Philippine Labor Laws: A strong understanding of the Philippine labor legislation, including the Labor Code, and relevant government regulations is essential. Familiarity with recent updates and amendments to labor laws is highly desirable.
  • Good communication skills, able to provide advice and counsel in difficult conflicts and disputes
  • Interpersonal skills are essential for this role. A Specialist must be able to converse and connect with people with different backgrounds.
  • Excellent writing and research skills. Labor Relations specialists will constantly use research to retrieve relevant data, analyze alternatives, offer recommendations, and impact outcomes.
  • Leadership skills. Able to spearhead a communication with many different groups to bring conflicts to resolution.
  • Strong Legal knowledge on relevant employment laws and Labor Code of the Philippines
  • Highly motivated and career-oriented
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
