Investment Associate
POSITION TITLE: Investment Associate
JOB SUMMARY:
The responsibility of the Investment Associate is to provide analytical and administrative support for the team responsible for managing the Company’s investment portfolio. He/she works closely with the portfolio managers and Head of Investments and make sure all facts are in place when investment decisions are made. He/she collects information, performs research, analyzes and make informed recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in a finance-related course.
2. Proficiency in financial analysis is not required but the candidate must be willing to learning on their own.
3. Displays strong analytical and quantitative skills.
4. Demonstrates sound understanding of Economics and Financial Markets.
5. Proficient in the use of MS Office, particularly MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Cash Management
Monitors and reconciles daily cash position against bank statements of the company and invests excess cash in short term deposits taking into consideration the ff:
a. current and projected inflows and outflows
b. cash requirements from portfolio managers
Investment Review and Analysis
1. Works closely with portfolio managers in identifying investment opportunities/new investment products for both the equity and fixed income markets through data gathering, comprehensive financial analysis covering investment risks, growth potential, financial capabilities and makes recommendations
2. Deals with brokers, companies and counterparties for specific studies or data needed for analysis
3. Seek necessary approvals for new deals/products that are not currently covered under the approved guidelines (internal and external)
4. Works closely with portfolio managers to ensure compliance of the portfolio with policies and regulations set by Management and regulators like the Insurance Commission.
Market Updates
Stays abreast of market developments affecting the financial market (both local and international) and any updates from the Insurance Commission that may affect the portfolio
Operational Process
1. Updates the Company’s investment portfolio by encoding deals in the system on a timely basis
2. Constant review of existing process and recommends process improvement as needed
3. Works closely with Treasury to ensure timely settlement of transactions
Administrative and Analytical support
1. Prepares periodic reports (daily, monthly or quarterly, as required) and analysis
Individual Reports:
a) Daily market updates
b) Updated Investment Portfolio - Daily
Team Reports
a) Monthly SL and board supplementary reports
b) Consolidated Investment Portfolio - Monthly
c) Marked to Market Reports - Monthly
d) Investment Committee Report - Quarterly
e) Exposure Report - Monthly
f) Income Report - Monthly
External Reports
a) Insurance Commission - transactions that may need special approvals
2. Analyzes investment performance relative to established targets or benchmarks and market trends. Ensure all investments related documents are properly recorded and kept
