JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for overseeing the overall performance and operations of the Department.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key activities and decision-making areas

1. Analytical and Critical Thinking

• Ensures proper coordination with Legal Division and Risk Management Group on the clarification and/or interpretation of newly implemented credit policies and regulations to have common understanding and application.

• Review the Department’s proposed annual operating budget based on the projected requirements and assumptions provided by FinPlan in order to assess the required expenses for the following year.

• Attends Credit Committee meetings and reviews Credit Proposals approved by the Committee to ensure that all instructions are complied with prior to elevation to the higher approving authorities.

• Reviews Minutes of the Meeting of the Credit Committee to ensure completeness and accurateness of the report prior to sign-off.

2. Analytical Thinking

• Ensures that the existing procedures of the Department are all aligned with the current process and amends as necessary to keep these updated.

3. Client Relationship Management

• Reviews and approves the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) of the Department with the other units to align expectations and strengthen partnerships.

4. Effective Communication Skills

• Participates actively in the review of new products of the Lending Units, Subsidiaries and Retail Banking by attending meetings in order to address documentation issues.

5. Governance, Control and Risk Management

• Ensures proper implementation of credit facilities, in accordance with the approve limits, terms and conditions through the issuance of the Credit Implementation Advice and build-up in the Credit Risk Management System, Guava and in FBEQ.

• Ensures accurate reporting of relevant loan portfolio details as required by management, regulators, auditors and other units within the Bank.

• Performs function of BCP Coordinator and ensures that the Department’s Business Continuity Plan together with the supporting documents are updated at all times in order for a smooth execution in case of disaster.

6. Leadership Management

• Acts as Point of Contact (POC) of the Department for internal and external audit examinations to ensure compliance to their requirements to assist in their review.

• Oversees the collaboration of the Department with Wholesale Banking Group including subsidiaries, Risk Management Group, Legal Division and Compliance Group on the review of the Bank’s credit policies including documentary requirements to align with regulatory requirements and to be at par with industry.

• Empowers the Unit Heads to participate in the various training programs given by SBC Academy by conducting lectures, classroom discussions and immersion activities to properly equip the participants with knowledge needed for their job.

• Monitors the timely submission of materials for presentation to the Credit Committee, Senior Credit Committee, Related Party Transaction Committee and Board based on the set deadlines.

• Reviews and signs off regulatory reports, collateral release documents, credit proposals, reimbursements and other related documents in accordance with the approval matrix.

• Empowers Unit Heads by giving them signing and approving authorities on transactions, reports and documents.

• Monitors progress of various process improvement and automation projects of the Department to ensure these are implemented within the time frame.

• Performs other related tasks which maybe assigned from time to time.
