Art Director

An Art Director works closely and collaboratively to support the rest of the art team on his or her brands on the daily execution of tactics from job opening to project completion. The Art Director will gain an understanding of and begin developing relationships with different agency departments including account, copy, digital, and strategy.

About The Job

  • Work closely with the Art team to create unique and well-designed pieces that stay true to the brand DNA, personality and, strategy.
  • Learn the basics regarding legal, medical and, regulatory pharma guidelines
  • Develop an understanding of your assigned brand’s specific rules and processes
  • Collaborate with additional members of the creative department including Studio Artists, Graphic Designers, Motion Graphics Designers, Integrated Producers, Illustrators, and Copywriters to ensure projects are completed on time and meet the highest standards of design excellence
  • Help to manage projects being worked on by Studio Artists
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the art development process from job initiation to completion
  • Learn internal agency processes and interfaces
  • Create initial layouts with supervision from your manager
  • Contribute compelling designs and layouts for a variety of projects and contribute useful suggestions and content during brainstorming sessions
  • Actively participate in team status meetings
  • With supervision, speak to creative projects and answer art, design and branding-related questions at internal reviews
  • Begin to join in client-facing calls and meetings.
  • Begin to watch market research.
  • Complete timesheets accurately and in a timely fashion.

About You

  • At least one year of experience in an Associate Art Director role, preferably within an agency
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign
  • A compelling portfolio included with your application (can be website, file sharing link or PDF attachment)
  • Understand the basics of brand guidelines
  • Possess a basic understanding of the art development process from job initiation to completion
  • Ability to express yourself clearly through written and verbal communication
  • Must know when to ask for assistance and also when to seek out additional work if/when you have capacity.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A confident nature, not afraid to suggest new ideas
  • Continuously seek opportunities to gain additional creative experience and exposure to more senior agency personnel
