The Manager - Payroll position is to act as a subject matter expert responsible and accountable for managing all payroll and timekeeping processes, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations. This position is also responsible for overseeing the preparation, and disbursement of all payrolls domestic and international. The Payroll Manager will partner closely with internal stakeholders including finance/accounting, human resources, and company employees to disseminate payroll information accurately and according to schedule.
Job Requirements
- Responsible for managing all payroll & benefits day-to-day operations including the overall compliance on wages and benefits regulations
- Works closely with accounting to ensure all payroll & benefits outputs are funded on a timely manner
- Manage and provide leadership and coaching to the payroll team to optimize output
- Develop and maintain process maps and documentation regarding payroll & benefits processes Implement controls and the appropriate “checks and balances”
- Oversee the payroll activities related to account reconciliation, monthly variance analysis, payroll accruals, and journal entry review
- Maintain communication and strong relationships with HR, and Accounting/Finance to review cross-departmental impacts, strategy, and reconcile data sharing related to payroll
- Recommend and implement changes leading to best-practices operations
- Set a tone of collaboration among the payroll team, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to provide a high level of customer service
- Manage regular preparation of relevant payroll reports for Senior Management, Human Resources and Finance departments as well as governmental agencies on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or year-end basis as applicable
- Generate various payroll & benefits reports for accounting and operations purposes as requested
- Special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Excellent skills in MS Excel
- Expertise in using any payroll platform/tool
- Familiarity with Workday or Oracle
- Expertise in PHL timekeeping and payroll processing and related legal/government requirements
- Familiarity with Finance and Accounting, specifically in preparation of payroll forecasts
