JOB SUMMARY

The Product Development Supervisor (PDS) will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design, development, production, and management of our in-house brand of tech accessory products. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams (Business Development, Research, Marketing, Supply Management, Sales) and external suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that new products are delivered and replenished on time, meet quality standards, and align with the brand’s vision. The role requires a strong background in product development, excellent project management skills, forecasting, and a deep understanding of consumer electronics and accessory trends.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the product development timelines, ensuring all phases of development (research, design, prototype, and final launch) are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with company objectives
  • Spearheads brainstorming sessions and concept development workshops while collaborating with cross-functional teams like Business Development and Marketing to generate innovative brand and product ideas and to ensure brand and product concepts align with customer needs and business objectives
  • Evaluates technical, market, and financial feasibility of new product ideas through utilizing market, customer, and competitor insights provided by the Research team
  • Collaborates and communicates with internal and external partners to define technical specifications and product requirements and to ensure expected product quality and production timelines are met
  • Oversees the development of product prototypes and coordinate the testing of product concepts to assess their functionality, usability, and market appeal
  • Leads the coordination of product launch to ensure all involved teams are aligned and prepare for the product introduction
  • Collaborates and aligns with Business Development and Sales team in terms of communication and negotiation with suppliers and channel distribution partners for product selection, pricing, margins, terms, purchasing models, and other agreements
  • Oversees product updates and modifications to address any issues and improve product offerings over time
  • Develops pricing and depletion strategies for slow and non-moving products
  • Evaluates product performance and sales data, and reports recommendations, action items, and related strategies to Product, Business Development, Sales, and Leadership teams

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Advertising, Product Design, or Information Technology (Post-graduate is a plus)
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in Product Development, Product Design, Product Management, Trade Marketing/ Retail— preferably within tech accessories, consumer electronics, IT, or FMCG industries handling high profile customers and product categories
