Job Description
- Support the Regional Accounting and Control - FRR Director or take lead in the overall financial reporting process for Asia, including the review and consolidation of financial and statutory reports to Asia Regional Office and Corporate
- Ensure consistency in applications of accounting policies and proper financial controls in place
- Lead or participate in various finance projects, including process enhancements and faster close
- Act as Relationship Manager for Asia business unit (BU)
Responsibilities
- Support the Regional Accounting and Control - FRR Director or take lead in the overall financial close process for Asia
- Ensure closing of the BU’s books based on the agreed schedule
- Ensure that key controls over RAC-FRR's Financial Close Process are operating effectively
- Review and coordinate with the BU Finance team on the timely and accurate submission of financial reports to Regional Office and Corporate
- Partner with Business Units to provide them guidance on various accounting issues and support for regional initiatives
- Prepare financial reports and analysis for submission to Regional Office Finance and Central Accounting
- Lead initiatives to streamline accounting processes and improve operational efficiency across the Asian region; Identify areas for automation and implement technological solutions to optimize financial operations
- Participate in the impact assessment of new standards/amendments to existing IFRS and Corporate standards.
- Participate in the SOX – related activities.
- Perform reconciliation and ensure compliance with the relevant standards and guidelines.
- Participate in other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the manager
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a must
- 8+ years of working experience with at least 5 years of combined accounting, supervisory, and or managerial experience
- Knowledgeable of the IFRS and with strong accounting skills
- Knowledge in IFRS 17 is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Mobility to travel for short term assignments
- Capable of multitasking and working in multi-cultural environment
- Proactive, a quick learner and be able to meet tight deadlines
- Working in sizable multinational companies and/or insurance industry and/or external audit firm is highly preferred
- Knowledgeable in computerized accounting systems such as SAP, Sun Systems and Oracle is an advantage
- Knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act is an advantage
