Job Summary
The City of Bessemer is actively seeking a highly qualified Head Golf Professional to oversee the comprehensive administration and management of its golf course, golf shop, clubhouse, and on-site restaurant. This key role involves ensuring the smooth operation of the golf course and maintaining the quality of the facility, including the upkeep of the course and equipment. Minimum Qualifications
The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position:

Work is performed primarily in employer-owned golf courses and facilities. Work involves the use of specialized tools for golf instruction. Work involves use of standard office equipment, such as computer, phone, copier, etc.

- Class A PGA professional/member.
- Experience developing and maintaining a budget.
- Supervisory experience planning, assigning, and reviewing work of subordinates working in a golf-related setting (e.g., grounds maintenance crews, Clubhouse staff).
- Experience managing a golf cart fleet (e.g., ensuring proper maintenance, keeping detailed records).
- Experience teaching golf to youths and adults.
- Prepares, monitors, and administers departmental or organizational budget by reviewing spending trends, expenditure reports, analyzing financial data and ensuring expenditures are within annual budgetary limits.
- Performs public/community relations activities such as interacting with schools, youth programs, and golf lessons to promote the golf course to local businesses, organizations, groups and individuals.
- Offers and conducts private golf lessons for course patrons by teaching equipment selection, strategy, and golf skill instruction.
- Monitors the maintenance and upkeep of the golf course and equipment through visual inspections, chemical application, and performing other routine maintenance activities.
- Oversees day to day operations of the city-owned golf course and associated facilities by coordinating with staff, producing/reviewing daily reports, handling money, and developing operational plans and procedures to ensure that operations at the golf course meet professional standards.
