Accountant (Account Reconciliation)
ROLE SUMMARY
Our client is looking for an Accountant, internally known as Retirement Plan Administrator I who will work directly with the client’s 401(k) plans by reconciling plan assets, performing annual 401(k) plan testing, calculating employee eligibility, preparing annual reports, and 5500 filings. This role is primarily focused on handling plans with a safe harbor design, employee deferrals, and participant distributions and loans. He/she will educate clients on the administration of their plan.
WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Mountain Standard Time (11:00 PM – 8:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays
POSITION TYPE: Full Time
WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work with clients to obtain the necessary information to prepare the annual reporting
- Review documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy
- Reconcile safe harbor plans with deferrals or plans with distributions and loans using Excel and administration software
- Prepare participant loan origination documents
- Utilize administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting
- Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the plan year reporting process
- Prepare required 401(k) plan government filings, including the IRS Form 5500, using filing software
- Share knowledge and explain complex topics simply
- Train on concepts for a Retirement Plan Administrator II
- Contribute to department and team projects
- Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field (business, finance, etc.) or equivalent work experience preferred
- Complete continuing education based on current certifications
- Experience in reconciliation
- Intermediate knowledge of 401(K) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL Regulations is preferred
- Skills in customer service, organization, and collaboration
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Adequate math and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and proactive approach to problem solving
- Tech savvy and has high attention to detail
- Ability to work in an autonomous environment where you can be a self-directed worker
