The Software Development Engineer in Test role will work on the Work and Rewards Advisory Technology and/or Data Technology teams and help build high quality automated tests and test harnesses written in C#/.Net to test our application portfolio suite.This role serves as an integral member of a global Agile Product Development team to design, build, test and deliver Willis Towers Watson’s technology products to our external or internal clients. The automated testing work being done at Willis Towers Watson is cutting edge and seeks to rival automated test frameworks found in successful technology focused companies around the globe. You will develop and integrate high quality automated tests for products built on the latest software architecture patterns and platforms; you will be part of a forward thinking and technology focused Work & Rewards platforms that seeks to leverage and develop the latest and greatest in the field of automated testing to deliver Willis Towers Watson products to the marketplace.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates high quality acceptance tests from acceptance criteria and quality standards that help the scrum team understand the value of the user story from the user's perspective.
  • and maintain the goal of continuous and daily automated test execution by ensuring that the test suite has enough coverage and failed tests are consistently reviewed.
  • with the scrum team in identifying appropriate tests to automate that will get the team closer to the goal of delivering working software to production at the conclusion of every sprint.
  • best practices into the daily norm including code maintainability and follows designs pattern including modularity, reusability, etc.
  • improving quality during all stages of software development, especially shift left testing mindset
  • as a champion of quality for your scrum team and supports knowledge sharing sessions, lunch & learn, brown bag sessions, and other learning sessions.

Requirements:

  • must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree or significant experience in a technology related discipline.
  • verbal and written communication skills
  • time effectively by placing the right focus on value adding operations
  • understanding of agile software development practices and principles
  • skills in API based automated test development
  • skills with UI automated test development such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright
  • knowledge in profiling an application and profiling concepts
  • SQL skills in tuning/optimization of T-SQL and database optimization
  • Skills in Unit Testing
  • knowledge of tools and techniques used in manual testing
  • to convert manual test into scripted automated tests
  • technical foundation, fluency in the programming language C#, or a similar development tool

Any of the following is a plus:

  • with creating test scenarios from functional requirements and/or User Stories using the Gherkin format
  • knowledge of the following technologies: JavaScript, Ajax, Jquery, CSS, XML, Angular, load balancing, single/multi tenancy, and rational database design concepts
  • of using development tools such as Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or Azure SQL
  • skills in writing T-SQL and data testing skills
  • with automated Visual test development using Applitools, Browserstack
  • with automated testing via DevOps CI/CD pipelines
  • to debugging using Azure Application Insights or other APM tools
