About Us

As part of the Student Wellbeing Workforce, we aim to ensure every Queensland state school student has access to a wellbeing professional at school. The focus of the Wellbeing Workforce is to provide support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. Wellbeing professionals employed through the Student Wellbeing Workforce work as part of schools' established student support teams to enhance the wellbeing and mental health support available to students. Queensland state schools offer a unique and rewarding setting where you can enjoy flexible, family-friendly work schedules while being part of our growing workforce of experienced wellbeing professionals.

Your Role

Responsibilities Include

  • Provide professional supervision, direction, leadership and support to social workers within the region.
  • Direct and support social workers and school management teams in assessing social work requirements and identifying appropriate responses and interventions to support students, their families and carers for the purpose of assisting student's educational outcomes and wellbeing and mental health.
  • Support delivery and continual improvement of social work services in schools by reviewing policies, operational standards and procedures, evaluating service provision and programs and providing advice and recommendations to the senior regional leadership team.
  • Identify professional development needs and proactively plan, implement and evaluate training and development initiatives for social work to support career progression and clinical advancement schemes.
  • Oversee the research, development, implementation and evaluation of validated clinical practices, policies and protocols relating to the practice of social work across the region.
  • Contribute to the development of state-wide programs, policies, operational standards and procedures for the delivery of high-quality social work services across the region.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration networks with state schools within the region, with other regions, and with other relevant agencies and stakeholders such as other government departments and relevant professional bodies to achieve positive educational outcomes and support students' wellbeing and mental health.

We Are Looking For Someone With

  • Recognised advanced professional expertise and knowledge in the delivery of leadership and professional supervision to social workers
  • Demonstrated competency to direct and support social workers and school management teams in assessing social work requirements and identifying appropriate responses and interventions to support students, their families and carers for the purpose of assisting student's educational outcomes and wellbeing and mental health
  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership in defining, developing, implementing and evaluating innovative and effective social work service models which support the needs of students
  • Proven ability to effectively manage significant projects and activities that are designed to respond to government priorities and achieve organisational outcomes in accordance with contemporary change management practices.
  • Demonstrated advanced interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with a diverse range of people and a ability to develop productive partnerships.
