About the Role:

Our company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Data Scientist/Business Intelligence Analyst specializing in Property & Casualty (P & C) insurance. This role involves leveraging advanced data science techniques and business intelligence tools to analyze and interpret complex data sets and deliver timely, relevant and actionable information to drive strategic decision-making and improve operational performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with business units and executives to develop and maintain Business Intelligence datasets, analyses, visuals, and reports
• Develop and maintain Machine Learning models to improve, augment and automate underwriting and claims processes
• Work with our internal and o shore technology teams to deploy models and visuals optimized for operational function and cost Required Skills and Abilities
• Excellent communication skills to interface with all levels of the business to understand and deliver their needs
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to delve into complex datasets and develop queries, views, visuals, dashboards and reports
• Excellent understanding of data science methods for analysis.
• Must have a keen eye for detail, capable of delivering exact and accurate information from complex and multi-layered data sets
• Proven expertise with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Domo, QuickSight.
• Proven expertise with advanced analytic tools sets such as Python data science and analytics libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and Matplotlib
• Skilled with using and developing AI/ML models, using available models and datasets and augment with our company’s proprietary data sources
• Extensive experience with all aspects of the data science life cycle - data acquisition, wrangling, labelling, model development, deployment and optimization
• Familiarity with developing generative AI tools, such as custom Copilot prompts
• Good working experience using SQL in general. Experience with PostgreSQL and Athena a plus.
• Experience with AWS SageMaker, Redshift and other AWS AI/ML/Analytics tools a plus

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Must have at least 5 years of experience within the Property/Casualty actuarial, data science and/or business intelligence arena.
• Must have 7 years minimum experience applying the required skills in production, with competency in data science and business intelligence analytics space.
• Master's Degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics or other relevant technical field is required.
• Certifications related to data science and analytics, e.g. CAP, AWS Certified Machine Learning a plus.
