The PMS Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Planned Maintenance System for vessels equipment’s and machineries. This role ensures that all maintenance activities comply with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices to optimize equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

1. Planned Maintenance System (PMS) Management:

Develop and maintain the PMS database, ensuring all maintenance activities are properly scheduled and recorded.

Ensure that PMS is updated with the latest equipment information, manufacturer recommendations, and regulatory requirements.

Monitor the effectiveness of the maintenance schedule and adjust as needed to improve efficiency

2. Maintenance Planning & Execution:

Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks based on PMS schedules.

Ensure timely execution of planned maintenance tasks to avoid equipment failure or downtime.

Liaise with vessel engineers, technical teams, and shore-based management to plan maintenance activities effectively.

3. Equipment & Spare Parts Management:

Monitor equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements when necessary.

Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure the availability of spare parts and consumables.

Maintain an updated inventory of critical spares and tools.

4. Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

Provide technical support and guidance to onboard engineers regarding PMS-related issues.

Assist in troubleshooting machinery and system malfunctions as needed.

5. Continuous Improvement & Training:

Identify opportunities for improving maintenance procedures and overall system performance.

  • Provide training to onboard engineers and crew members on the proper use of PMS.
