Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Responsible in maintaining and ensuring that all FIP laboratories including the mobile testing units are in compliance with the Global Business policies and procedures, Corporate Governance, Health and Safety, Operational Integrity, other required management system/ ISO standards, applicable laws, and approved customer-related commitments.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY

  • Assists in monitoring that all required government licenses, permits and accreditation of all FM Laboratories including the mobile testing units were secured and/or renewed.
  • Assists in monitoring and ensuring that all external laboratory QHSEE requirements has been secured in all Laboratory sites. Coordinate with site Team Leaders when necessary.
  • Monitor and update records of PPE issuance and replacement of FIP laboratory personnel.
  • Responsible in collating the Overall HSEEn (Health, Safety, Environment & Energy) Report of all FIP Laboratories and its timely submission to S&A and/or H&S OCE
  • Assists in monitoring all FIP Laboratory documents such as procedures, forms, lists, work instructions and other laboratory related documents were reviewed, updated and controlled in a timely manner. At the same time ensuring proper dissemination of said documents throughout all FIP Laboratories and removal of all invalid and obsolete documents and destroy or quarantine them from all points of issue or use.
  • Assists in ensuring that the Laboratory management system documentation on intranet (SharePoint) and hard copy are all controlled and updated. At the same time assists in monitoring and ensuring proper and correct storage of job files in all laboratory sites.
  • Assists in ensuring that an updated master list of all documents and references are provided to all lab sites.
  • Assists on the orientation of new hires, the annual training awareness of existing FIP Laboratory personnel on the following: ISO 17025, ISO 9001, Basic Safety, Transportation Safety, Crystal and other laboratory related quality and safety trainings.
  • Prepares annual QHSEE related training plan of FIP Laboratory personnel subject for review and approval of the laboratory manager/ operation executive.
  • In coordination with the Laboratory S&A, responsible to consolidate, monitor, update FIP laboratory Key Performance Indicator Report, Safety Reports, and Customer-related concerns to be submitted to the laboratory manager/OE and to be discussed during the Monthly Operation Meeting.
  • Assists with the intra-lab comparison or proficiency testing (PT) and other quality related activity of the laboratory as required to cover the scope of accreditation.
  • Assists in facilitating a regular customer satisfaction survey in all laboratory sites. Coordinate with the team leader of the sites as necessary.
  • Responsible in the collation of the minutes-of-meeting of the overall operation meeting and trainings such as the MOM and safety and procedure discussion including per base toolbox meeting and external reports such as TIAC visits and WEM reports.
  • Assists in conducting discussion on the annual refresher, if there are revision on the document and when there are new hires on the safety and quality procedures, test methods and forms.
  • Conducts a regular site visit on all FIP Laboratories including the mobile testing units. Prepares reports on the findings of the conducted site visit to the laboratory Manager or Operation Executive. Frequency of site visits will depend on the findings from visits.
  • Participates in incident investigations involving personnel within the function line by doing root cause analysis.
  • Authorize to perform quality testing, confirmatory testing, certify Certificate of Analysis/Test Report when needed and assist on other quality related requirement of the laboratory.
  • Operate to the highest standards of ethics in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity.
  • Ensures compliance with the Group and national policies, including, but not limited to, the maintenance of the Quality, Health and Safety, Environment and Energy Management System.
  • Performs other related duties that may be assigned to achieve the respective section’s goals or for personal or professional training, education, or development, as programmed by the immediate head.
  • Complies with the Quality, Health and Safety, Environment and Energy (QHSEE) policies and supporting objectives including, but not limited to:
  • Demonstrates strong obligation to SGS QHSEE policies, procedures, and work instructions by actively participating in meetings, projects and events, completing required training, intervening in unsafe situations, refusing unsafe work, and complying fully with all applicable laws and regulations related to QHSEE.
  • Perform appropriately and immediately in emergencies and assist other staff members in maintaining readiness to respond to emergencies within the workplace.
  • Disposes or directs the disposal of waste generated as a part of daily work performed safely and in compliance with the disposal regulations and requirements and accordance with SGS Environmental Management System requirements.
  • Reports all incidents, including near misses and hazards, that may affect the achievement of QHSEE objectives in accordance with SGS Incident Reporting and Management requirements.
  • Efficiently uses all equipment, including safety equipment and company-owned property, in the manner intended and reports any damaged/ lost equipment to immediate superior.
  • Maintains a safe and tidy worksite according to the organization’s 5S program and guidelines.
  • Maintains awareness of the safety and health-related hazards and environmental aspects and proposes action plans to control the risks to immediate superior or QHSEE Coordinators.
  • Actively participates in incident investigations and risk assessments as deemed necessary by SGS management.
  • Fulfills the requirements needed for the success of the QHSEE Management System.

Recognizes the potential consequences of not following the established policies, procedures, and guidelines, including not fulfilling the organization’s compliance obligation.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and/ or related courses and must be a registered chemist.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Fuel Integrity Program - Laboratory or four (4) years’ experience in any analytical laboratory setting. Experience in an Oil, Gas and Chemical or Petroleum analytical laboratory is an advantage.
  • Experience in Document Control and ISO/IEC 17025 audit and implementation is an advantage.
  • Preferably with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 Trainings.
  • Willing to be assigned anywhere in the Philippines.
