Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Designer to independently lead the design development of housewares products. This role requires a strong individual contributor who can drive projects from concept to execution, leveraging SolidWorks expertise to create precise technical drawings, 3D models, and prototypes. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver with a deep understanding of design trends, manufacturing processes, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end design process, from initial concept ideation to final production-ready specifications.
- Utilize SolidWorks extensively for 3D modeling, CAD drawings, and product visualization, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability.
- Develop detailed tech packs and engineering-ready CAD files for manufacturing, ensuring compliance with production standards.
- Create high-quality 3D renderings and prototypes using SolidWorks and KeyShot to support internal design reviews and client presentations.
- Conduct trend research and compile insights from publications, trade shows, and online resources to guide product development.
- Collaborate with Sales, Leadership, and Product Development teams to identify product opportunities and align designs with market trends.
- Work closely with Sourcing and Manufacturing teams to optimize design feasibility, ensuring cost-effective production while maintaining design integrity.
- Review, approve, and provide feedback on prototypes and approval samples, ensuring alignment with design intent and manufacturing requirements.
- Manage project timelines independently, ensuring deliverables are met efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in CPG product design (housewares experience preferred).
- Expert proficiency in SolidWorks for CAD modeling, technical drawings, and product visualization.
- Strong skills in KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including injection molding, ceramics, glass, metal, and wood production.
- Understanding of engineering principles to ensure products are both functional and cost-efficient.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) to collaborate effectively across departments.
