Accounting Assistant
Responsible for supporting the daily accounting functions of a company. This includes preparing financial documents, maintaining financial records, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, and supporting month-end and year-end closing procedures. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a basic understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Recordkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers and journals.
- Record daily financial transactions, ensuring they align with company policies and accounting standards.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for internal and external audits.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process accounts payable invoices and ensure timely payments to vendors.
- Assist with accounts receivable tasks, including tracking outstanding invoices and ensuring timely collections.
- Reconcile discrepancies between vendor invoices and purchase orders, as well as payments.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements with company records and ensure accuracy.
- Resolve any discrepancies and report to senior accountants or management as necessary.
Month-End & Year-End Closing:
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and summaries for management.
Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze reports, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, under the supervision of senior accountants.
- Assist with the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory reports, as required.
Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to all financial regulations, company policies, and accounting standards.
- Assist with audits by providing requested documentation and explanations for transactions.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments to gather and verify financial data.
- Provide general support to the finance team as needed, including preparing reports or completing special projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in accountancy.
Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in accounting or a related field (Fresh grad are welcome too).
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
