Job Description

A CAD Assistant supports the company by creating, modifying, and managing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings. Their main purpose is to ensure accurate, detailed, and efficient design documentation that aligns with project requirements and industry standards.

In short, the role is focused on ensuring that designs are correctly translated into workable blueprints that meet industry standards, safety codes, and the client’s requirements, ensuring the project's feasibility and success.

Position in the Company

Key Responsibilities

Accurate and Detailed Drawings:

  • Design Feasibility and Functionality: Produce technical drawings and 3D models that precisely reflect design specifications, material choices, and engineering standards.
  • Ensure that the drawings are comprehensive, clear, and easy to understand by all stakeholders (e.g., design or project management teams).
  • Incorporate drawing changes in an efficient manner , producing clear, concise, and accurate results.
  • Deliver designs that are not only accurate but also practical for production ensuring that all elements fit together correctly in the real world.
  • Anticipate and solve design-related problems, making adjustments as necessary to maintain the functionality and integrity of the project.

Compliance With Codes And Standards

  • Ensure that all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines, minimizing risks of non-compliance or rework during the design or pre-production phase.

Collaboration And Communication

  • Work closely with Rotec project and design managers to refine designs, address concerns, and incorporate feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with Rotec teams throughout the project lifecycle to ensure smooth transitions from design to execution.

On-time Project Delivery

  • Manage time effectively to deliver drawings within project timelines, enabling design or project management teams to stay on schedule.

Efficient Use Of Resources

  • Optimize designs to minimize material waste, reduce costs, and increase production efficiency without compromising quality.

Documentation And File Management

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all design revisions and drawings using drawing registers, ensuring easy access for future reference or audits.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar).
  • Understanding of engineering, architectural, or manufacturing design principles.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
