Job Summary
The Training Team Lead is responsible for maintaining the Company IMS Competence Matrix, ensuring that crew members possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all industry regulations—including, but not limited to, STCW, IMS, TMSA, SIRE, and CDI. Ensuring that all crew receive timely training in accordance with the Company's IMS Competence Matrix by monitoring training gaps and expirations, scheduling, and delivering the necessary training on time. This position also leads the training team and oversees the training of all crew, regardless of nationality.
The Training Team Lead reports directly to the Fleet Marine HR Manager within the Crewing and Marine HR Department.
Responsibilities
Training Development:
- Coordination with Global Training Manager on new training needs from either stakeholders, customers or regulations.
- Implementation of newly developed training.
- Work closely with department heads and supervisors to identify training needs.
- Assist Global Training Manager in LMS (Mintra) Set-up and implement accordingly.
Training Management:
- Maintaining the Company IMS Competence matrix, ensuring that it is aligned with all relevant industry regulations – hereunder but not limited to STCW, IMS, TMSA, SIRE, CDI etc.
- Monitoring and analysis of Training Gaps and requirements as per the Competence Matrix for both PH and non-PH marine personnel (e.g., Competence Matrix, CBT, Cadets). Coordinate with internal and external (local manning offices) Crewing coordinators to address training gaps.
- Supervise and ensure updates of training items in the Crewing System Platform.
- Create and communicate the Annual Training Calendar.
- Coordinate Mini seminars.
- Facilitate PDOS (Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar, PH government mandatory).
- Coordinate tasks related to the Safety Delta Program.
- Design, development and maintenance of learning and assessment materials for seafarers and cadets.
- Work closely with Crew Performance and Crewing Department in evaluating seafarer’s technical development needs and support necessary training for the current rank and/or next higher rank.
Training Efficiency:
- Reviews and evaluates completion of all training-related activities by collection and analysis of evaluations of In-house Training and Mini Seminars (participants' feedback). Implement actions on the identified observations in training evaluations.
- Periodic visits and/or audits with local training providers.
Cadet Programme:
- Monitoring of the Cadet Training Program for all cadets.
- Screening of candidates for the Cadetship Training Programme.
- Evaluate cadets learning and development progress. Conducts Training Record Book Validation for disembarking cadets.
Budget and Operational Expenses:
- Budget creation and monitoring.
- Review and approval of relevant invoices, ensuring proper cost control.
Requirements
- Marine Engineer or Master Mariner with relevant industry experience, desirable but not mandatory.
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in training management and developing training programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to coordinate and communicate across offices in Poland and Denmark.
