The Assistant Controller – Head of FRC is responsible for overseeing the Financial Reporting and Compliance Unit.

The position is responsible for the accurate reporting of the financial position and performance of the company as well as making sure of the complete documentation of organized archiving of such reports.

It also acts as main support to the Controller in all Closing-related activities, internal, external and tax audits as well as Regional Controllers Team site visits and audits.

Timely and Efficient Close Process

  • Establishes and communicates to all stakeholders the monthly close calendar, including deliverables and completion deadlines. Keeps track of compliance on such deadlines for deliverables, and flags potential delays, and adjusts accordingly to ensure timely completion of Close activities and submission of financial statements.
  • Clears offsetting entries and maintains valid balances for BS accounts. (Conversion of OIM accounts)
  • Prepares relevant closing entries and reviews monthly closing entries prepared by Financial Analysts and Tax Officer
  • Submits monthly reporting requirements in Hyperion
  • Reviews accrual entries performed by CMT
  • Reviews manual trial balances for Fintec

Accurate and Timely Financial Reporting

  • Reviews monthly balance sheet and income statement, and ensures the proper variance analysis is done and documented for alignment with FP&A and RCT
  • Prepares stand-alone and consolidated financial statements
  • Prepares assigned ARA schedules, and reviews ARA schedules prepared by FRC, Billing and Collections, and Cash Management Teams. Ensures the monthly Close Binder is complete and maintained.
  • Reviews entries prepared by financial analysts during their daily/weekly monitoring of ASC fund, cash advances, payables to employees.
  • Monitors and addresses unusual balance sheet items such as long-outstanding accruals, other Accounts receivable, etc.
  • Conducts fixed assets count and reconciles count with book balance.
  • Reviews vendor master purge on a timely and regular basis as provided for in SOX control

Compliance

  • Reviews schedules and requirements (Hyperion schedules, Exemption Reports, CSA, RRT, etc.) mandated by the Network during month-end closing.
  • Initiates process improvements for intercompany, billing and collections, and cash management transactions to comply with tax and IPG regulations.
  • Handles requirements for submission of files or application of licenses to the government agencies
  • Handles audit requirements – IPG-IA, IPG-RCT, Clients, Statutory (PWC)

Effective tax planning, efficient, accurate, and timely tax filing and payments, accurate and timely tax reporting

  • Reviews schedules and all documents supporting the calculations of all tax filings and payments and ensures that taxes being reported, filed or paid are tied out to the corresponding GL accounts
  • Initiates tax planning process to ensure the agency can maximize all tax advantages, benefits and/or, savings that the company can legally avail of.
  • Reviews and oversees the timely preparation and submission of all tax reports due to IPG and all relevant stakeholders and ensures that information is accurate and supported with proper documentation.
  • Supervises the work and performance, develops the career and growth path, and creates meaningful goals of theTax Officer
  • Assists the Controller in handling tax audit requirements

Leadership, team effectiveness and efficiency

  • Develop meaningful team and individual goals that support agency and department priorities, including a clear performance measure that aligns with MWG standards. Oversee all the work output and the development of the FRC Analysts.
  • Help maintain a work environment that consistently espouses strong work ethics.
  • Constantly review processes and aim to improve and streamline workflow, data gathering, report generation, and records archiving
  • Develop appropriate policies and procedures to meet both current and future business operations
  • Develop benchmarks that will help minimize or quickly spot errors and inaccuracies
  • Collaborate with other Finance leads/teams to obtain and/or provide required input/data to financial planning/reporting or commercial development
  • Be prepared for meetings and learn internal dynamics during meetings; share and propose ideas during brainstorming sessions
  • Anticipate challenges and roadblocks to key deliverables and proactively work with stakeholders to address potential issues or performance gaps

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related field or assignment
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role
