Job Description

  • People management of the Compliance Operations Unit officers through review of their activities and evaluate their performance based on the unit plans and objectives; identifies strengths and weaknesses of the team members and further develops their strengths and provide guidance on how to address the weaknesses.
  • Reviews regularly, updates and monitors compliance with the Corporate Operations Manual and other related procedures such as the GRC procedures in accordance with relevant law and regulations.
  • Develops and maintains a constructive working relationship with regulators such as BSP, SEC, PDIC, AMLC, etc. including ensuring that all the regulator requirements for their examination whether on-site or otherwise are properly taken cared of.
  • Performs regulatory horizon scanning to ensure that the bank is aware of new laws, regulations and rules applicable to the bank; disseminates the same to the relevant units of the Compliance and Corporate Governance Office (CCGO).
  • Issues, updates and/or reviews policies and procedures related to the functions of the Compliance Operations Unit.
  • Recommends process efficiencies and effectiveness including optimize use of technology such as AI and RPA related to the functions of the Compliance Operations Unit and the other unit of CCGO.
  • Leads the CCGO on the planning activities for the following/succeeding years goals and targets and ensures that they are aligned to the bank's strategic objectives.
  • Apprises the CCCGO of the Unit's performance against targets and reports progress thereon.
  • Primarily in charge of the GRC system for CCGO to ensure that all the governance requirements of CCGO are included in the GRC and that it is functioning as intended.
  • Promote, arrange and conducts trainings on RCSA, business resiliency, data privacy, IT security, physical security, fire and safety, and sustainability in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assists the CCCGO in the reporting to the Corporate Governance Committee regarding compliance operations matters such as resources required and regulator findings and status of management actions.
  • Provides advice to the CCGO on RCSA, business resiliency, data privacy, IT security, physical security, fire and safety, and sustainability matters.
  • Keeps abreast on latest best practices and trends related to efficiencies and effectiveness and shares and disseminates the same to the concerned units of the CCGO.
  • To act as the lead in coordinating efforts of the CCGO and relevant units/departments/groups/committees of the Bank to address all findings, exceptions or violations cited particularly by BSP during their regular, special or general examination of the Bank.
  • Oversee and ensure the timely submission of reports or documents to the BSP, SEC and PSE related to compliance operations.
  • To attend, whenever necessary, the regular meeting of the Board of Directors, Corporate Governance Committee and such other relevant Committees to present advance findings, replies and the Report on Examination (ROE) of the BSP.
  • Escalates to the CCCGO and senior management significant regulatory issues related to compliance operations.
  • Ensures that the Unit and its officers are compliant with the bank's policies and procedures such as the Code of Conduct, etc.
  • Ensures that regulatory and/or internal audit findings on compliance operations are timely addressed and that the RCSA for CCGO is timely accomplished.
  • Maintain records and files of all regulations and communications with the regulatory agencies related to compliance operations.
  • Performs such other duties that maybe assigned by the CCCGO.
