The Purchasing Manager oversees the fulfillment of all the non-trade requirements of the company. The role covers developing, leading, and implementing strategies to ensure efficient acquisition and delivery of quality goods and services.
Key responsibilities:
- Effectively manages the Purchasing team to optimize productivity and engagement, including work planning, performance management, development and coaching, and team culture management
- Develops and executes strategic purchasing plans to ensure efficient acquisition of non-trade requirements and alignment with the overall business goals
- Approves purchase orders and petty cash transactions, reviews contracts, and accredits vendors based on delegated authority
- Negotiates special projects and requirements while ensuring transactions are covered by a contract that must be regularly updated
- Identifies process improvement opportunities and implements innovative strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize procurement operations
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, procurement, or any related field; master's degree or relevant professional certifications preferred
- At least eight years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least three years in management capacity
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms, prices, and conditions from suppliers while maintaining positive relationships.
- The ability to analyze data, market trends, and supplier performance to make data-driven decisions to optimize the procurement process
- Effective communication skills to interact with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and team members
- Adherence to ethical practices is critical in procurement to ensure fair and transparent dealings
