Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The candidate will be responsible for lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate Mathematics modules and can also be expected to be involved in the development of new modules. Other duties include the supervision of Honours projects.
Key Responsibilities
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The candidate will be responsible for lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate Mathematics modules and can also be expected to be involved in the development of new modules. Other duties include the supervision of Honours projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and learning:
- Presenting undergraduate & postgraduate modules. Development of new modules and updating of study guides.
- Research and Innovation:
- Supervision of postgraduate students and the publication of research papers in accredited journals.
- Organisational & management tasks:
- Assist with management tasks.
- A Masters’ degree (NQF level 9) in Mathematics with either Topology, Functional Analysis, Algebra or Number Theory as an area of specialisation.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- A PhD (NQF level 10) in Mathematics with either Topology, Functional Analysis, Algebra or Number Theory as an area of specialisation.
- Membership with the South African Mathematical Society (SAMS) or America Mathematical Society (AMS).
- Proof of PhD registration or an intention to register for PhD.
- Knowledge of Latex, Matlab, word & Excel.
- Work independently, but also as a team.
- Have good people skills.
- Professional and ethical behaviour.
- Be able to act as a mentor for junior staff.
